Even the Christians do not celebrate it because it is not them to pray to the saint, whom they, like the Muslims, do not believe that he is a saint or 'Padari Besar'.
How could the Muslims at the NST force anyone to take part in the contest they are organising which charges a fee of RM25 to post a message that will be published on 14 February when they are not Catholics?
It doesn't matter if the day has been commercialised and it is said to not have any religious significance. It has. And the Catholics see it as a religious day, not any day.
I am surprised that the Muslims at the NST are not feeling guilty for encouraging non-Catholics to take part in the contest. Worse, they do not indicate that it is opened to Catholics and Muslims are not allowed.
They are encouraging 'khalwat' by offering a three-night stay in a hotel among other things. And if this contest is opened to all, it should also include those who are not married. And one of their major sponsors is Habib Jewels.
There is a photo published in the NST today showing two 'tudung' clad Muslim women receiving or offering prizes from the respective companies.
I am not being too sensitive, just realistic. There are other things that all of us can come together to promote unity, and Saint Valentine's day is definitely not one of them.
Sincerely,
Another Muslim
Hmmm...forcing?
If Another Muslim and his ilk do not want to partake in the contest, they have the CHOICE to do so.
It is ironic that this miscreant accuses the NST of "forcing" something, when it is actually Another Muslim who is campaigning to have everyone forced to toe the extremist Muslim line.
This is why I'm beginning to believe with each passing day that Islam is afflicted with a large proportion of brain damaged individuals.
