MAIS forbids Ahmadiyya worship PDF Print

"In Lina Joy's case, she is being prevented from leaving Islam, while the Ahmadiyya are being forcefully kicked out and yet are still liable to punishment by the Islamic authorities."

By Shanon Shah, The Nut Graph

The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) has forbidden the Ahmadiyya Muslim sect to perform Friday prayers at their mosque with immediate effect.

In a letter to the Ahmadiyya dated 24 Apr 2009 made available to The Nut Graph, MAIS said, "If [the Ahmadiyya] fail to comply with, defy or neglect the directive, the council will take legal action without any notice."

In a statement, Ahmadiyya spokesperson Ainul Yakin Muhd Zain said, "We ... feel deeply hurt and aggrieved at this unjust action to deny us our right to perform our religious obligations."

MAIS issued its directive on the grounds that the Ahmadiyya mosque did not get the council's approval first.

In December 2008, Selangor religious exco Datuk Dr Hassan Ali said that he was willing to negotiate with the Ahmadiyya community over seizure of land which they used for their mosque.

Khalid Samad PAS Shah Alam chief and Member of Parliament Khalid Samad elaborated to The Nut Graph over the phone: "We should engage and discuss with the Ahmadiyya to understand their perspective."

According to Ainul, however, no such dialogue has taken place between Hassan and the Ahmadiyya community.

"Besides, he is only willing to talk about the issue of land, not the issue of our aqidah (belief system)," Ainul said in a phone interview today.

"The way the Pakatan Rakyat government is treating us is the same as how the Barisan Nasional treated us," Ainul added.

The Nut Graph was unable to reach Hassan, but Khalid said it was important to clarify the Ahmadiyya sect's status.

"There are 1,001 religions in the world, so if they declare themselves non-Muslim, then the solution is easy for us," he said.

"The problem is if they insist that they are still Muslims," he noted.

However, Ainul said, "It is ... incomprehensible to us that we are subjected to this kind of treatment, as firstly we have been declared non-Muslims."

In 1975, the Selangor Fatwa Council issued a fatwa declaring the Ahmadiyya sect non-Muslim.

The fatwa also said that ideally, if the Ahmadiyya did not "repent and return to the true teachings of Islam, they should be killed by the Imam which is the King".

Acknowledging, however, that this was not legally possible, the fatwa then recommended that the Ahmadiyya be stripped of all special Malay privileges.

There are, of course, many enlightened ‘Muslims’ in the world, but, unfortunately, the majority of them have little knowledge of the subject matter, and if they do know, are threatened by death if they contradict the majority. There are estimated over one billion ‘Muslims’ in the world today, most of whom do not understand the Arabic language or know much about Arab and Islamic histories. Since the Quran is written with a high standard of the Arabic language - which is difficult even for Arabic speaking people to fully comprehend - it is hence almost impossible to have it understood clearly by those who do not know the language.

People in Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, for instance, although they profess to be fervent ‘Muslims’, in reality do not know more than the invariably one sided explanations, misrepresentations and misinterpretations perpetrated upon them by their religious leaders (Ulama).

Why so much fuss over this sect but no fuss at all over the Sheikh Nazim (or is it Nizam) sect? I think the Sheikh Nazim sect is more deviant from Islam cos they treat him as next to god and kiss his feet when in his company. When asked by a British T.V. interview why he allows this feet kissing, he said his followers want to kiss even though he said "no". Yeh, right, he must enjoy having his feet kissed cos he never stopped his followers from doing this un-Islamic worshipping act. BTW, some members of a royal house are also staunch followers of this deviant sheikh.

I do not like to comment about something that I do not understand, but I believe in "freedom to choose",a subject of comtemporary economics propounded by the great economist Mr Milton Friedman.

Be righteous whichever religion you profess and you will be safe.

Now it is very clear, all the Muslim's are concern is they're religion not "race" or the "Ketuanan". What a bloody hypocrite!

which is the true islamic teaching. there are more than 1000 versions of islam. so how can one say that they are true and the rest is wrong. everyone can interpret any religion in any way. thats why the are many denominations but one faith. no one can judge. let them belief in their version as long as they are not a threat. but then again ................

What is wrong with Ahmadiya muslims ?

Its is probably better than UMNO muslims whose Koran is founded on the Ringgit, Seex, & Power.

Ahamadiya was founded before UMNO muslims, its is called Paki muslims or the real mamak muslims. At least they are Koran based.

It is indeed sad that in these times and age, people could still be persecuted for their beliefs or non-beliefs.

What if this group declares itself non-Muslim, would they be free to practise their faith? I think not. They would not be allowed to use the mosque, not allowed to call Allah, could not go for Haj, etc, etc. The only peaceful way is to allow complete freedom of religion. Otherwise, people would be discriminated against, harassed, persecuted, incarcerated and everything not so nice.

Whenever such issues crop up, my heart aches for Makcik Kamariah Ali who is still languishing in prison, initially for being an apostate and then for not being convincing enough. If you do not wish people to leave the faith, jailing them is never the answer. You have to preach the goodness of the faith, show the compassion of your beliefs, demonstrate your love and humility; then people would not want to leave even if you force them.

For Allah's sake, let the poor old lady go in peace and live her remaining life in freedom. Would all righteous Muslims plead for her as Haris has fought for her?

So very very sad. I pray she finds peace in her solitude and not lose faith in humanity.

Amin/Amen.

This is the problem when there is space to comment, sometimes people think it's okay to rape someone's wife and daughter or worship demons and shit. Destructive behaviour and comments are exactly what the much hated MAT REMPITS say and do. And some of you guys sound just like them. Maturity anyone???

Dear Nadal, don't you forget that the MAT REMPITS back ground is from true Islamic society, and not from demons or shit worshiper society ! smilies/wink.gif

There is a technical problem here.Ahmadiya is not Muslims because they belief in another prophet. However they can call themself Islam. In theori Allah sends prophets to teach Islam to every race.So if your phrophet is other than Muhammad just call yourself another name other than Muslims.
Lets unite under the banner if Islam.Any religion that does good and fobid evil is Islam.Allah's forgiveness is stated in AlQuran 6:22"Oh those who believe(Muslims), and those who are Jews,Christians and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the last day,and does right, surely their reward is with their Lord, and they shall not fear nor grieve."

All these sects whether in Islam or Christianity or other religions showed one thing - it is not about GOD, it is about power, power over others. That is the reason why "religious" leaders founded sects so that they will be in charge of their flock. That, by extrapolation, meant that all organized religions, back to their founders can be called triads - more members meant more revenue and power. Why dont politicians leave religion alone to be the sole personal decission of the people. A clear separation of state and religion had to be enforced so that fake religious people cannot use God's name for their power grab.

There is freedom of wordhip but not freedom of faith in Malaysia. All because of misguided self professed true Muslim. if they are really true Muslim who practice the teaching of the Quran, then the Quran should be carefully scrutinized and openly debated. But for the sake of peace ( because of the self righteous extremist) , we pray to the Almighty God, Who created the heaven and earth for guidance.
