Transportation – Silly PR Stunt and PKFZ Scandal Revisit PDF Print

Isn’t it both funny and laughable to read how the prime minister opted the cheap-skate method of doing their PR stunt? The sleepy former PM may have left us for good to enjoy his forever honey-moon period but I bet everyone can still recall how he took a ride on LRT in an attempt to score some political and PR points.

Now you’ve the new PM who did the same thing and it would be foolish to think such a stunt would do him any good. The next question that comes to your mind – doesn’t the PM has a better PR team to rebuild his public approval rating? The fact remains that no matter how many times the PM took the ride on public transportation systems and how hard the government-controlled media spinned the story as if the PM was a superhero Superman, the people are simply too sick and tired of the silliness of the whole stunt.

People still remember how the PM (was deputy PM then) took the easy way out by telling the average-Joes to bite the bullet and change their lifestyle when the government increased the fuel hike not many moons ago. Frankly do you really need to show how silly you are by taking public transport just to conclude that the system sucks?

Typical UMNO/BN mentality, thinking the rakyat would be easily fooled by the PM just taking a ride on LRT, etc. It just reinforces how naive and stupid our leaders are and this further confirms that UMNO/BN politicians are bankrupt of ideas; they are first class when it comes to corruption, abusing power, using ISA to protect safety of journalist, which is unheard of anywhere in the world and doing other stupid things like locking up female politicians under ISA merely based on hearsay, worst still when the story comes from crooks like Toyo, the master of corrupts in Selangor.

When the PM takes the LRT he has his hordes of body guards around him. His place in the carriage is already reserved for him even before he steps into the carriage. The ordinary Joe on the street on the other hand has to fight push & shuffle to get to his place of work since the carriage is already full when the train arrives. If the PM really wants to see how bad the public transport is I suggest he goes incognito as an ordinary man on the street then he will know what befalls the Joe on the street.

he doesnt even need to do it everyday. Just once a week till the next GE will suffice to show his sincerity. Once OKT did the same thing too and till now nothing has changed. SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW? Take a taxi and get fleeced PR stunt?

I recall years ago when I was living in Wellington, New Zealand. I walk to work and as my usual habit, I dropped by a small dairy (small family run fruits and vegs shop) operated by a Chinese family to buy an apple for my lunch. Surprisingly whom do meet in the shop but the Prime Minister himself. He was very friendly and asked me where I was from. The shop owner told me the PM lives along the same street and walks to his office almost daily, unescorted. He dropped by frequently to buy fruits from the same shop. I later found out that his house was just like any along our street, nothing ostentatious, not like the palaces that our ministers live in. That was a humbling experience.

The cheap gimmick can only be explained by one thing --- small brains think small things.

The next stunt is for him to nod off during meetings!
Now, that would bring his status up a few rungs! YES?
He can C4 'loosemama' and marry AHMINA but refusing to admit it!
Now that will surely cause him to seek a penanti erection!

The only way to improve the rapid transport rail is to force all the owners, who happened to be Umno cronnies, is to link and merge all the lines into a seamless system istead of maintain each one as their own warlord fiefdom. Also, bring back competition for the monopolized bus system (also UMNO cronnies owned) by giving out licenses to mini buses or like previous efficiently run non bumi bus companies like Kee Hup, Dong Fang and Sri Jaya buses. Also, make stops at rationally and commercially viable points not at some kampongs just for a few bumis to go to work. It will have to be a system for all. Riding in one trip with all pre arranged conveniences on a train as a PR stunt will not attrach any new rider ship because the whole system is too expensive and inconveniently linked up.
