Forcing minors to convert to Islam is un-Islamic, leading Islamic scholar Prof Dr Mohammad Hashim Kamali said today at a public lecture.

"Those who use Islam for purposes not germane to aqidah (articles of faith), for example to legitimise marriage, divorce, or win custody battles over children, are misusing the religion," he said.

Kamali was responding to a question from the floor on the legitimacy of minors being unilaterally converted to Islam by a parent who had converted to the religion.

In a recent case, a Hindu convert to Islam, Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah, converted his three children to Islam on 2 April, according to his still-Hindu wife, M Indira Gandhi.

According to Indira Gandhi, Ridzuan then obtained a syariah court order on 3 April to claim custody over their children, Tevi Darsiny, 12, Karan Dinish, 11, and Prasana Diksa, one.

Karan Dinish has since stated publicly that he does not want to be a Muslim and wants to remain a Hindu.

The crux of the problem is with getting justice when there are grievances,
many of the issues center around the constitutional amendment was enacted in 1988 pertaining to clause 121(1A).Article 121(1A) states that the High Courts and inferior courts shall have no jurisdiction in respect of any matter within the jurisdiction of the Syariah Courts.
This has left many without any remedy. This clause should be repealed as it was enacted without proper debate when BN still held two thirds majority.More http://www.facebook.com/topic....topic=5090

Being so called "Islamic state", how come Malaysia government cannot come out with proper guideline on this matter and treats this matter in a fair manner which will make all non muslim understands and respect Islam rather than turn against it.

Basically, these bastards are purposely creating hell for their ex wives. More like personal ego and revenge than promoting Islam.

Shame on u!

Does it take a scholar to explain, that it's un-islamic to convert minors. As a muslim convert,i will say that how these children,in the case of Ms.Gandhi's plight and many other children made to be in such circumstances,is the most cruel thing done upon a child.

It's not that Islam is not right for anyone, but the manner in how anyone is exposed to the religion by imposition,is certainly not right.

To the Ministry of PM office, you ought to address the plight of all children converted without consent,in secret and in tug-of-war between parents situations. The children should first be returned to non-muslim parent, with religion reverted asap.Consider any unfortunate fatality and death, will it not get worst?

Sort the family problem through nuetral party and be agreeable on the children's future,in all aspects..

Never let this happen again.Anyone who wants to convert to Islam,be absolutely sure you do it for yourself with the right intentions, respecting the "Koran's" teachings. Please stop selfish human behaviour towards your children..!!

These FANATICS are just thinking by converting non-muslims to muslims they have done goods deeds, never did they realize that force converting which brings suffering to the children and their families members are misdeeds. So instead of good deeds they have sins by causing suffering to others.

There is a simple solution to these mess, just let those children remain as they are until they reach of age, then let them decide if they wanted conversion or not. If yes, let them convert, if no, let the matter rest.

This is the doctrine why many people don't respect Islam. Religion is a free-will and not a force-down-the throat situation. This is nothing against what stated in Koran. If Islam is practiced as tolerable as Christian, Buddhism, Hinduism etc, I am very sure Islam will gain popularity and be respected. If the so-called Islam scholars continue to claim nonsense rights based on own interpretations instead of what was taught purely in Islam, wars, women discrimination, terrorism that link to Islam will continue to escalate. People will hate Islam more then.

"The devil comes to kill, to steal and to destroy".

Which religion is famous for killing in the name of its god?
Which religion is famous for stealing children and stealing from the public?
Which religion for famous for destroying families and relationships?

The devil indeed comes to kill to steal and to destroy.

You don't need a scholar or professional to say that. But then, these department donkeys and emotional asses have cameldung in their head that they feel it is proper to force convert. If they can do snatching of corpses from their loved ones, forced conversion is no big issue.

And they call it a peaceful, democratic and loving religion. Looks like they cannot get the numbers by voluntary conversions that they force, especially through marriages.

Cancer,
How to object when the matter was secretly done without the mother's knowledge?
If a parent were to object, would the department or court have stopped the conversion. We have seen enough cases over the last 3 decades.

Religion is not just the book but more, the common practice of those people in the name of the book.

If what Prof Dr Mohammad Hashim Kamali say is true then the Practice here in Malaysia is totally un-Islamic by converting people Islam through Marriage. I agree with him that faith or believe in any religion must come from the heart not by law.

We are about the only country in the world where one person is required by law to convert to Islam in order to marry a Muslim.
