Bukit Selambau ceramah attacked with tear gas and water cannons; an era of repression is upon us

What on earth is going on?

Quite frankly, I’m surprised at the amount of repressive measures, all lumped in one day.

First we have the outlawing of Suara Keadilan and Harakah, at oh so convenient timing, and now, I’m informed that tonight’s ceramah (5,000 strong, with women and children in attendance) at Bukit Selambau was attacked by the FRU and their unholy tear gas and water cannons.

Wtf? This is almost a first. Night time ceramahs have very seldom been fired on. What’s going on?

I know many would scoff when I say that the powers that be (incoming more likely than outgoing) can’t possibly be so stupid as to think that these kinds of brutal repression will help their chances in the 3 by-elections?

Even the notorious Mahathir has never banned Harakah in its 22 year operation. Yes, he had curtailed it, but he has never banned it. That's what you get when you have a moribund, scandalous beast like Najib who thinks he will cow the nation.

We are at the right time of history in making. Are we going to just let the people and the country to be raped by some racial bigots & religious extremist or are we going to stand up for our rights to co-exist in peace, make this country a better place for our children.The time is ripe for us to come together and make a difference.

When people in power see their 'marble' shrinking, they react by abusing their power.

Well UMNO and the media can try to justify the excessive use of chemical laced water cannon and the many canisters of tear gas - but even UMNO people will not be convinced.

Their action and psychology is to frighten the rakyat - but I believe the rakyat can read the fear in UMNO.

If C4s can be used on an innocent pregnant girl - using chemical laced water and tear gas on women and children is nothing to them.

May the downfall of UMNO be sooon.

They have tear gas: but we have blog gas.
