The post of UMNO deputy president should be de-politicised so that it would no longer be perceived as a platform to gain the country's top premiership, an UMNO division leader said.

Pulai UMNO division chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the time had come for the party leadership to seriously reconsider the norm of appointing the deputy president as deputy prime minister, and later, prime minister.

"Maybe, it is time we just have a deputy president, and not neccesarily for the deputy president to become the deputy prime minister or prime minister. We should just focus on the PM (prime minister). (A) Deputy president doesn't need to be PM," he told Bernama here.

He said by doing so, it would defuse the situation where one can create a perception that there are two leaders at any time when in actual situation, there should be only one leader, namely the prime minister.

"The problem is that people tend to tie the No. 2 to (being) the next prime minister. This creates a two-leader situation and everyone would try very hard to push up their leader so that they can have something in return later," he said. (Bernama)

Jazlan,

I have seen you giving speech before, you certainly do not sound like a typical UMNO moron that we read and heard about. You spoke with intelligence and you look honest and sincere !!

You should not waste your talent in a pirate ship. You should use your God given talent to help your poorer countrymen, by contributing your talent in re-building our country, by helping to restore the health of this nation.

UMNO is a pirate ship, a very evil one as well, it is an organisation that every thinking Malaysia condemn and hate. It infested with despicable low life and parasites of the the worst kind, these low life and parasites are destroying our homeland.

If you have intelligence and conscience, do not waste any more of your talent in this this pirate organisation !!

This seems a very brave new approach to suggest. It may leave the President [who becomes Prime Minister,a official normality in Malaysia] more powerful, untouchable and probably a tinge of 'dictatorship'. Or to be more fair within the Malay community, the President is voted by every malay in the country.A party should be a party for all within their race, even if they are not supporters of the said party. I would like the next time around polling date,to be able to vote for a party and its elected candidates, that assures me and all Malaysians, young and old that we matter, that we are one, that we are not offended by a fair quota system,in the Education System,in our workforce because its based on an individuals' fair acomplishments and merits, and that we can trust and count on administration of all departments/estabishments/ministry,that we don't need to feel surpressed in our race/religion/culture/tradition and language.

Maybe it's time too for racist like you and your corrupted bosses to repent ! ! ! Malaysia history shows that this land don't belong to you or your bosses.

The real ' bumiputeras ' are the natives of this land if you still don't already know.

And what holy religion do you or your kind strictly follow and teaches you ? ? ?

Very sensible and bold statement by Pulai UDC Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamad. You should have voiced this long ago and made it loud and clear to Najis and all the UMNO goons. And no more quota in future UMNO nominations for any post. In fact a person so badly tainted like Najis should step down hurriedly when he knows very well the Rakyat and the whole world know about his bad reputation. All his talk about having change and reforms, restoring confidence in UMNO and government AND having people's interests first is all PIGSHIT! If he has genuine interest in the people he should'nt be murdering and making people perish in the first place. WHERE IS MY FRIEND P. BALA? Now that Najis will be PM soon by default and having satisfied his FAT MAMA's lust and greed in becoming the "FIRST LADY", release Bala from the wilderness.
