PETALING JAYA: A second post-mortem conducted on A Kugan, who died while in police custody, shows that he was beaten so badly he died of kidney failure.

The new autopsy, which was conducted by Universiti Malaya Medical Centre's pathologist Dr Prashant N Samberkar, concluded that "blunt trauma to skeletal muscles" caused a breakdown in muscle cells.

Such fragments then entered the kidneys through the bloodstream.

"Some of these, such as myoglobin, are harmful to the kidney and may lead to acute kidney failure," the report said.

The post-mortem identified 42 separate external injuries, including "multiple 'V'-shaped imprint burn wounds on the skin of the back" cause by a hot iron.

It found extensive hemorrhaging throughout the body, including the spleen, spine and head, as well as evidence of starvation.

Kugan beat himself to death in the cell. No? His cell mate beat him up when the sentry was not looking. NO? How sad! The civil service cannot be trusted. The police cannot be trusted. The doctors cannot be trusted. What is this country coming to?

The police and the hospital authorities must be independent of each other when performing their individual duties. They must not collaborate their activities during their performances. The police is the protector of unrest and crimes. The hospital is the saver of lives.
Imagine if Kugan had been your relative. how would you feel when you lost him because police said he had asthma? And now after another examination the autopsy revealed he was beaten to death? Mr. Policeman, please show some human feelings when you erroneously said he died of asthma? How did you possess such a heart to tell such a lie when someone's loved had died in police custody?

Latest :

Kugan was interrogated in the room and suddenly few policemen walked in and Kugan accidentally tripped and his head and body knocked onto their fists. They tried to help him but he stumbled and fell again and again and each time he knocked onto their fists. To wake himself up Kugan used the U-shape Hot iron on himself and later he filled his lungs with some liquid and decided to call it a day.

Kugan was murdered in his cell.

Anyone could see how badly he was beaten if they watch the video; don't need doctor to do autopsy and tell you that, but now it is confirmed.

Msians need to ask how did this come about; from beginning to end and it tells a sad story of Msia and its current state of society.

Who murdered him?
Who is the doctor who did the first autopsy and how can such a wrong first autopsy be made?
Who is behind the alleged Kugan car syndicate
How is responsible for this cover-up?
How bad is the state of the PDRM
Why come so many of a minority are so marginalized
How did Msian society reach such a debacle / state of affairs

It is indeed a sad indictment of Msian society and life in the current social / political system

It is sad when a person dies; even one who is an alleged thief especially so in the hands on the people who are supposed to protect society. I hope Kugan’s parents will be consoled and something good will come out of this for all Msians; something tangible and positive; perhaps an independent commission of enquiry, lessons learnt.

I hope Kugan’s death was not in vain.

The most honourable thing for the Home Affairs Minister, the Selangor CPO and the Selayang Hospital director to do is resign. How could they so unashamedly defend the criminal actions of their men, when the evidence of torture was evident? It would have appeased the public outcry had they admitted there were signs of torture and therefore would investigate further. Now they are being shamed (or are they?) and, if they are worth their high positions in their respective service, they must resign. In this case, we must acknowledge the AG's action in classifying as murder. Bravo.

Do you really need to conduct a second post mortem when bruises are found all over his body? It's just plain police brutality!

Why are you people calling for the murderers to resign???!!!! They should be charged for murder and hang! Imagine if it was your brother or father that has been handcuffed and murdered by the Police which they tried to cover up.

Are we safe with this king of police force patrolling our neighborhood?

Based on the manner in which the first autopsy was written, it is not just the cops who tortured Kugan to death who should be investigated but at least 2 or 3 levels higher in the police and medical departments as they abetted in the cover-up of a murder.
