After Perak, is BN eyeing Kedah as next target? PDF Print

Chinese dailies Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press have even gone so far as to name six potential defectors – five from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and one from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) – although no evidence is offered.

THE STRAITS TIMES

After reclaiming Perak from the opposition, the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition is widely believed to be eyeing Kedah next.

It will be a greater achievement if BN can pull it off, as the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) holds an eight-seat majority in Kedah’s legislative assembly, compared with a five-seat majority in Perak.

Kedah, along with Perak and Selangor, has always been suggested as an opposition-controlled state that could fall through defections.

With Perak returning to BN’s control, the media spotlight has turned to Kedah, which already has one assemblyman reportedly missing – the same thing that happened to Perak assemblymen Mohd Osman Jailu and Jamaluddin Radzi before their defections.

The northern state of Kedah fell to Pakatan in the general elections last March, when it won 22 seats in the state assembly, leaving BN with only 14.

The magic figure being bandied around now is five - the number of Pakatan assemblymen needed to defect to tip the scales 19-17 back in favour of BN.

Chinese dailies Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press have even gone so far as to name six potential defectors – five from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and one from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) – although no evidence is offered.

PKR assemblymen Lim Soo Nee and Tan Chow Kang told reporters last week that they have been offered “millions” many times by an unidentified man to leave Pakatan and go independent.

Then last Friday, V. Arumugam, another PKR lawmaker, was said to have gone missing, merely days after he had lodged a police report claiming he had received kidnapping threats.

In a statement released when he filed the police report, Arumugam claimed the threats were made to force him to leave PKR and join BN.

Arumugam ran as an independent candidate in the general election but he joined PKR after winning his seat.

But PKR has scrambled to quash the latest defection rumours. Kedah PKR MP Ahmad Kasim told China Press that Arumugam’s “disappearance” was, in fact, planned by the party. He claimed Arumugam was told to lie low for a while due to rumours of his defection.

“It’s temporary. Select party leaders know where he is,” said Ahmad.

Separately, Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak has said his men are ready for BN. He told reporters over the weekend that it was not surprising to see BN target Kedah, having tasted success in Perak.

Independent pollster Merdeka Centre director Ibrahim Suffian said BN would have to think hard before making a concerted push for Kedah “because of all the unhappiness surrounding their recapture of Perak”.

“But the numbers needed in Kedah are not impossible – and BN might ultimately be thinking of their survival first,” he said. – MI

Not surprised with the speculation. The Najib camp is looking for as many jewel in the crown by March for obvious reasons.

However, Kedah will be a tougher cookie then they think.

In the ECO crisis, Najis as a finance "mini-sir" are not helping the nation to face this critical season, yet, he is the trouble makers on making the situation WORST!
(IT(Najis) will not help us, and will NEVER do.) The rakyat now must help ourself, cos Malaysia are even auto pilot now~!

DO we really need such an irresponsable moron to lead?? There are manythings even money cant buy. And Cacat Hee, you have made ur family's life "live not better then death" (生不如死) Cos, Perakian are cursing your whole family.

As for Najis, a win without honor. Go swil in the indah water pool.. where u really beling.

BN is really low class, openly courting and buying MPs and assemblymans. If this is not a new low, I don't know what is.

And the very fact that no action has been taken by pdrm and macc is the icing on the cake.....time to wake up from complacency malaysians.....it's time to finish up ameno.

Go Jeep go! Poles has fallen. Now the French. And consider Kedah as you France. With your Naxis like machinery, it will even make the Wehrmacht looks like amateurs. So do the Blitz on the Jelapang. Go Jeep go! But learn from history okay. Penang and Kelantan is England and Russia respectively. If you are so hard-up for the English rose, you will make the mistake that Herr Hitler did. Jaga. Otherwise you will end up in the Bunker. So, a Rose in the hand is worth more, right? Ha ha!

After raping Perak, Najis will try to C4 Kedah, Penang, Kelantan and Selangor. So all women from the four PR-held States should be prepared to cut off his infected cannon before he tries to do any Altantunya's tricks.

When the Monarchy started to lean towards BN on the decision of the fate of Perak Government, it spelled the end of Democracy.

Now that the Party Hopping game got the nod from the Ruler of the State, it is gaining momentum and it is going to be happening to Kedah and Selangor.

Thus the State Government had to divert their attention to the game instead of concentrating towards the day to day work of clearing up the mess from previous BN governemtnt.

The current Finance Minster is also busily master minding his favourite game than worry about the economy of the country.

They are playing with the fire and unfortunately the victim who will get burnt will be the Rakyat in the end.

Badawi is useless and harmless. Thus the GE 12 was a success for PR, due to Badawi's fairness or harmless approach.
A lot of people are so optimistic about the GE 13.
It will be a different ball game (GE 13) under this Dictator. Because politic is his life time career. He is brutal because he had no respect for other people's life. Just like the Movie, you want to be the King of the Con Man, you got to have no passion for human life, including your parents and siblings. Life, money and whatever is just a part of the political game. If he can't put DSAI or RPK in jail, he can just C4 them. If he thinks BN is in danger of losing control, he can even stage another May 13, just as long as he can win the game.

Let's hope PR can be more prepared and more cooperative after the last Ring Out in Perak. The road to success in GE 13 is long and winding and bumpy.

Let's give them a fresh taste of defeat in the upcoming
by-elections.Nothing will sober up the smiling murderer
than two really big losses.Maybe the politicians can be swayed
but don't underestimate the desire to see change among the
Rakyat.Growing pains, that's all it is.
