• Perak Pakatan Rakyat to have emergency meeting at 3pm
• MB Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin met Perak Sultan at 10am
• State speaker V. Sivakumar sent resignation letters for two seats to Election Commision
• Behrang, Changkat Jering assembymen deny resigning, to meet press in KL at 4pm
• DAP Jelapang rep still in Pakatan Rakyat

By Shannon Teoh, The Malaysian Insider

The battle for the Perak government continues today with the ruling Pakatan Rakyat putting pressure on two errant PKR executive councillors to make their stand clear even as it informs the Election Commission that the duo have resigned their state seats.

After yesterday declaring that Jamaluddin Mat Radzi and Osman Jailu have resigned as Behrang and Changkat Jering assemblymen respectively, Perak state speaker V. Sivakumar went ahead this morning to inform the state EC of the vacancies.

"I will now inform the EC headquarters and further decisions will be made from Putrajaya," Perak EC chief Ahmad Adli Abdullah told The Malaysian Insider, confirming that Sivakumar visited him at 8 this morning to inform him of the vacancies.

Although it is a public holiday in the Federal Territory today, a decision to hold a by-election could be made as soon as tomorrow.

But the PKR men have denied resigning, saying the letters were written under duress after their electoral victory in March 2008. The duo are calling for a press conferences in the Klang Valley scheduled for 4pm today.

While earlier calling on his two Exco members to make their stand clear, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin today avoided speaking to the press even after a scheduled government meeting or after he made a 25-minute visit to the palace for an audience with the Perak Sultan.

He is scheduled to hold an emergency Pakatan Rakyat meeting at 3pm at his residence today. The national Pas leadership is also meeting to discuss the situation in Perak. Of the five states, Pas heads the government in three while DAP heads Penang and PKR heads Selangor.

Perak PKR is also refusing to state the obvious fact that Jamaluddin and Osman are set to leave the party, insisting that it has yet to receive any official resignation letters.

"We have not received any resignation letter, so as of now, they are still in the party," PKR state chief Osman Abdul Rahman told The Malaysian Insider this morning.

He added that he has been unable to reach the two over the past five days and the party is considering its options now but want to wait for them to make clear their stand before proceeding.

"I understand they are making statements this evening. So we will decide after that," he added.

DAP, meanwhile, remains confident that it will not lose any numbers in the current upheavals.

Rumours had surfaced that Jelapang assemblywoman and deputy speaker Hee Yit Foong was ready to defect to MCA after being unreachable early yesterday.

But she then turned up at her home in the evening, stating that she had merely switched her phone off to avoid persistent calls concerning the rumours and also denied she was quitting the party.

MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, rumoured to be meeting Hee last night, also rubbished the speculation, saying that he had no plans to meet any Pakatan elected representatives on his trip to Ipoh to attend the state MCA media night.

DAP state exco member Thomas Su also told The Malaysian Insider that the party was in communication with all its assemblymen.

"All 18 DAP state lawmakers are accounted for," he said.

UMNO is now at catch 22 for it never crosses its mind that their players will have to settle things in a by-election or in a snap poll of the state legislature. I see the beginning of the demises of Najis and UMNO and the reincarnation of Pak Lah, for a short while, however.

PKR and DAP must scrutinise their candidates thoroughly. People like Heeh must not be selected. Other than making this kind of headlines, what else has she done for Perak?

Ameno and its Insignificant Others, don't have standards or principles on which they conduct themselves, on one hand they say party hopping very immoral but then if the direction of hopping is to their parties, then they will say it is okay.

The most dangerous type of leaders are those that have no principles anything goes so long as it is to their favour. Sabah is a good eg of this play, Ameno uses this party hopping tactic to get the numbers and finally got set up in Sabah and these can only happen if the leaders are weak and the Rakyat welfare is not their main consideration.

Pakatan Rakyat leadership should act cruel to be kind by kicking out those representatives "whose hearts can easily be fluttered" by any offer of money, awards and positions by the cash-rich Umno & BN.

Any politician who can be easily tempted is not worth retaining.

Be End cannot buy PAS ADUNS bcos while they as not as materially rich like their Ameno and its Insignificant Others ADUNS, they are definitely morally richer and principled. That's what differentiated PAS, DAP and to some extent PKR ADUNs they are consistently firm on their principles and believe. That is why I rather trust PAS than Ameno and its Insignificant Others. Agreeing to disagreeing is respect of the utmost, not bullozing, arrogant and robbing d nation's wealth.

These reps are not to be trusted by the party and the rakyat. They are merely time bombs to us all. Get rid of them before they cause any damages. Blacklist them and mark them as "DEAD". If any by-elections should call for, I'm sure the rakyat will come in full force to support PR. BN has no benefit whatsoever. So Mr. Deputy PM, please don't count the chickens before they're hatch.

The PAS & DAP ADUNs are battle hardened and proven through the test of time, while the PKR ADUNs are also good people generally, but probably getting a lot of temptation thrown at them which they are not used to. Als, quite a few are former disgruntled Utterly Moronic Nazi Org members, and obviously we can take the members out of UMNO, but for some, we cannot take the UMNO out of them ... once a Moronic Nazi ... very difficult to be something better.

YAB Menteri Besar, Negri Perak DR.

Please seek Tuanku's permission to dissolve the state assembly.
Have another election to continue the change which start on Mar 8 last year.
If nothing could stop Najib from being chucked out by his own party before he assume the PM ship of our country, this might.

I am puzzled by the responses of DAP's Jelapang assemblywoman and deputy speaker Hee Yit Foong stating that......... "she had merely switched her phone off to avoid persistent calls concerning the rumours.....".

That's exactly the problem! If she knew that such rumours were flying about, why didn't she act immediately to quash such rumours? Why did she choose to remain incommunicable when she should know that such rumours, if left to fester, would gain momentum and would cause serious damage to the party?

Problems with the leadership should never be used as a bargaining tool in times of potential crisis. Anything less would render the incumbent irresponsible and stupid! Guess what, ...irresponsible and stupid people should never be in positions of authority!! The constutiency elects their representatives in the belief that their interest would be looked after. This sort of behaviour from an elected representative is not acceptable.

One thought that would come to mind as a result of her hesistation to quash the rumour would be that she is weighing up her options and considering offers and is buying time to arrive at a decision! When one simple phone call via her mobile hone would have resolved and killed off the issue immediately, she choose to switch off her mobile phone knowing (or she should have known) that such actions would result in heightening of any existing rumours doing its rounds.

This is not ignorance - it's pure stupidity or worse still, a chance to weigh up her options whether to succumb to offers or to bargain or do nothing. If such situation did occur, then, she does not deserve to represent the people who voted for her under the PR umbrella.

Any possible perception of any tainted action by a representative of the people should never be tolerated...otherwise, the same problem could arise at some future time where the situation could be more crucial - the party cannot afford such uncertainties from their elected members!!

PR should dissolve the Perak State Assembly and call for fresh state elections. Now we know the right candidtes to put forward. There is no doubt PR will win again and with a much bigger majority.

We cannot lumps up the 3 together in one shot.
Deputy Speaker Hee deserves a benefit of doubt as she did not went MIA or AWOL .
She might dislike her boss and seniors but many of us hates our own boss as well.
Boss are ass holes too at certain times.

Another PKR Exco do deserves a benefit of doubt as the ACA "caught" him with a slab of cold cash in a very 'suspicious" way and a tale of bullshit from both side.
His guilt was MIA and AWOL for 4 days and met a suspected murderer in Pekan.

But the other PKR Exco deserves to be hanged in broad day light. As he took the ChinaDoll sex bait and claims no wrong was done with the ChinaDoll in bed and tried to wriggle out using his religion as a shield.More guilt follow as he went MIA/AWOL and met a suspected murderer in Pekan.

No ADUns and No MPs from PR side can deny signing their own 'dead " letter or resignation letter.I do think it is a mandatory requirement to 'protect" the rakyat incase our PR MPs/ADUNs decides to take dirty rasuah money from umno.

There's more than meets the eye. I think these two PKR members have already decided to crossover. Once PKR found out, it had two options - let Perak be ruled with razor thin margin, or use the pre-signed resignation letter. If I were PKR, I would use the letters and have new elections instead of giving BN the added two seats. Then I can field better candidates and rub dirt in BN's face when PKR win the by-elections. Just my two cents.

In 2004-8, PAS ruled Kelantan with razor thin margin. Any single defection could have brought down Tok Guru's government. Yet it did not happen. I would have kept my finger cross if the ADUNs were from PKR, or even DAP.

It tells a lot about the integrity of PAS ADUNS. Their brothers in Perak are also trained in similar way. Their loyalty and integrity is bound by their Iman.

You can trust them.

"PR will have to do some spring cleaning and all those who are opportunist must be shown the door."
Ahmadneil, Since 1998, many PKR diehards have lost everything. Harrassment, intimidation etc have broken even families. So come PRU 12, there wasn't much candidates for PKR to choose from as not many, were ready to come forward to be candidates. Hence, PKR has to make do with whatever candidates it had. Sure, things are different now...if there's gonna be a state election in Perak (even PRU 13 for that matter), there'll be many offering themselves. Lobbying has, in fact, started. But the good thing this time is, Anwar will have more candidates to choose from
