(The Star) IPOH: Jamaluddin Mat Radzi and Mohd Osman Jailu have resigned their posts as assemblymen of Behrang and Changkat Jering respectively.

Their resignations are effective 5:45pm Sunday, state assembly speaker V. Sivakumar said in a statement.

This paves the way for by-elections in the two constituencies within 60 days, he added.

He said he would inform the Election Commission officially Monday morning.

The Commission would then deliberate if by-elections are to be called and when.

Their resignations, ending days of speculation that they were going to defect to Umno, leaves the Pakatan Rakyat state government with a razor-thin margin. It now holds 30 state seats against Barisan’s 27, with two seats up for grabs in the 59-seat State Assembly once a by-election is called.

Rumours are also rife that Perak state assembly deputy speaker Hee Yit Fong, the DAP representative for Jelapang, is going to resign as well.

When contacted at her home Sunday night, she declined to comment.

The two PKR men have been “missing” for five days.

Earlier Sunday, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin confirmed that neither the state nor family members have been able to reach the two Perak state executive councillors.

He even said the state government would lodge a police report after consulting with their families.

Jamaluddin, 52, was the Perak Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman while Mohd Osman, 57, headed the State Tourism and NGO Committee.

They were charged in a Sessions Court on Aug 25 last year with allegedly receiving bribes over the application for a RM180mil housing project in Sri Iskandar in Perak Tengah. Their case comes up for hearing on Feb 10.

After Umno’s Bota assemblyman Datuk Nasarudin Hashim crossed over to PKR last week, PKR and Umno have been involved in a psychological war, with both accusing each other of trying to pinch their assemblymen.

Jamaluddin and Mohd Osman have not been seen in public since Nasarudin crossed over to PKR last Sunday, with the media also failing to reach them for comments.

Speculation had been rife in Perak that the exco duo were going to resign from PKR and become Independents before joining Umno later.

Have faith, people! The Rakyat has awakened from slumber.

Anwar is back in Parliment and the rakyat wants Anwar, not Najis for PM!

Pakatan Rakyat will win any re-election with a bigger majority.

Hidup PR!

This is what was expected from PKR reps. PKR has to very careful in selecting the candidates for the by elections to come in 60 days time. All parties should work hard for a better majority.
Of course PR can beat Barisan Nasional easily, but hard work is very much needed. Is it better to have a snap elaction by dissolving the Perak State's assembly, where PR can have convincing pseats to run the state.

If the rumor on Hee Yit Fong, the DAP representative for Jelapang comes to pass as true, then the rakyat will never forget nor forgive him for such betrayal of our trusts. He might as well forget about his political future. So, I hope he thinks hard about it and not be tempted by the devil.

Is it that all the candidates for political positions are total and complete sleaze-bags... or is it that political parties are incapable of choosing the right men??

After the euphoria of 308, it is high time PR does some house cleaning. The "resignation" of these two guys with the on-coming by-elections will only strengthen the PR.

Good riddance. Should include Kulim wonderboy too!

I just saw in The Star and Malaysiakini. It's claimed to be an undated resignation letters. This will be interesting. If the letters were signed after the election, the claim of signing under duress could be challenged. If it is signed before the election, then it is less likely to be signed under duress. Well, that's my layman's opinion. Will have to wait for some lawyers to give their opinion.

In anyway, Najib may not have strength to hold fight another BUY-election before March. If he still loses these 2, he will be in difficult situation. He will need to seek EC and the courts help to delay the election until he is safely in PM's seat. Woe to the new deputy in that situation. He will be in deep shit if he looses the 1st 2 BUY-elections.

Anyway, the winner in any BUY election is the rakyat.

Now we can see how the Mafia works. THe Mafia Chief himself directing the operation in Perak. What do we the ratyat expects? Kidnap, Threats, Blackmail, Corruption, and what have you, to grap power from the PK STate GOvernment.

Even the Deputy Speaker has been so fearful for her life that she intends to resign from the DAP.

The people of Perak must give their utmost support to the legitimate elected state government led by the Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin to develop and make progress for the state and prevent all the elected state councillors from threats, harm or blackmail in order to perform their duties for the people who had elected them.

All these are inmatured reps from KeADILan. Since they quit, they will have to vacant their seats as in the declaration signed back before March 08 election. I will suggest that Anwar Ibrahim to select more caliber and mature candidates instead of selecting tom, dick and harry to beat BN as in the last election. For DAP, the party must remove one of the Ngeh/Nga cousins if the party is serious to maintain Perak govt, and also some of the current DAP elected reps. My god, they speak rotten bahasa and english. I am not sure how they will communicate in dewan negeri. I am sure there are more educated and qualified candidates than the currents. We appreciate the current reps for their committment, but unless they brush up their language skills & education and politics, they have to go. The last election was won due to emotion and not true election process.

LKO,
Most of the contracts people sign, such as Sale and Purchase Agreements when buying or selling property, are undated. The lawyers put the date on the contracts later on. The same when you sign up to work for the Government or when you accept the terms of a Government contract or student's scholarship or loan. They make you sign a blank form more or less, the date being the least important part of it all.
