Zaid: Umno disciplinary board forced to prosecute selectively PDF Print

(The Malaysian Insider) - The Umno disciplinary tribunal cannot function effectively as it is forced to practice selective prosecution for the benefit of certain top leaders, former de facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim says.

In a press statement today, he also slammed the party for dismissing disciplinary chairman Tan Sri Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen’s suggestion to do away with the Youth, Wanita, Putera and Puteri wings of Umno.

“He is exasperated with the extent of the corruption permeating the party at all levels,” said Zaid who was sacked from Umno in December for attending PKR’s national assembly.

According to Zaid, Rithauddeen was intimating that the disciplinary board could no longer cope with the level of corruption within the party and was trying to tell the party leaders that Umno could no longer be salvaged under the present structure, “and under the present crop of leaders”.

“What makes it so difficult for the tribunal to effectively carry out its functions is the selective prosecution it must practice in the discharge of its duties. Actions can only be taken if required or useful to certain top leaders,” Zaid claimed.

Leaders of the respective wings and Umno’s top two, Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi and Datuk Seri Najib Razak had categorically rejected Rithauddeen’s suggestion over the past few days, preferring to “add assistance” to the disciplinary board to expedite investigations.

But Zaid maintains that the board has no clear mandate from the party leadership to deal with money politics.

“When I was suspended for allegedly being involved in money politics, I knew that Tengku Din, although chairman, was not involved in making the decision. Someone else in the management wanted me out,” he said of his suspension when he was still Kota Baru chief.

Zaid added that Umno members will be subject to investigation “if he does not belong to the right camp” but others will “escape with impunity”.

Stating that Rithauddeen now realises the futility of his task, Zaid called on the veteran Umno man to retire and resign from the tribunal.

Zaid also sent a sarcastic warning to Umno leaders not to criticise the disciplinary board as it violated party ethics.

“Look what happened to me for criticising the tribunal and not wanting to apologise. I got suspended because they said I violated party ethics,” he said.

“So they same fate will fall on Najib and his friends in the supreme council,” he stated  sarcastically before adding that this was “wishful thinking, as there are rules in Umno that apply to some but not to others”.

jangan khuatir tentang keadaan tenat umno sekarang
biar dia pergi
rakyat akan lebioh selamat dan bersatu tanpa bebanan ini.

Thanks to our former LAW MINISTER for being frank over UMNO ways of performing they POLITICAL SANDIWARA. Easy Said and Done. Interm of Pereto Analysis 80/20, the 80% of corrupted Wings in UMNO taking away 20% of the value whilst 20% of the Top UMNO leaders taking away 80% of the value through BIG Contracts and especially involving business outside the country.
So surely the 80% of the people in UMNO do not want the wings to be abolished no more income lah.
Tepok dada tanya selera.
The best thing to do is to ask ALL the UMNOputras of the country to go to Shah Alam Stadium to SWARE before the KORAN that they are not corrupted and ensure the FT IMAMs are there.

What a Joke...

But that's what Malaysia is all about, is it not? Selective prosecution. The Lord President swallowed the bitter pills way back in 1988. And they even say it was His Majesty, the Agong then at that time, who desired the setting up of the Tribunal for the dismissal. Mahathir knows best. Malaysian justice or any disciplinary Board has never been the same since 1988. Go ask the AG and ACA if you know what I mean. The whole Nation's population knows this blatant fact. And this open secret is not under the OSA.

The disciplinary tribunal, is not there to catch the culprit, but just another tool to protect the leaders.
It is to provide cover for the incumbent and stop the newcomers from challenging the status quo.

ISA, OSA, Police and the Judiciary has been used to good effect.

This country had lost its credibility & integrity since TDM's time. There had been colossal amounts involved over the last 20 odd years. Hundreds & hundreds of billions. Or even a trillion or two. As years went by, the money they accummulated got sweeter & the sky is the limit in terms of their wealth accummulation. Their greed is insatiable.

When the new federal govt takes over, all the past ministers & present must be charged in court (a reformed Judiciary, no less) for corruption. Otherwise the new govt will be seen as another version of "umno" - Anwar can't afford to allow this perception to develop.

Nowadays even teenagers use the word "RASUAH". Everyone knows, except bn voters.

Why is MACC acting as the 'kempetai' for umno when the corruption in the country is higher...?

Has the tools of the nation just do umno bidding - afterall it is an internal party matter and why should public funds be used to 'clean' umno so that it has any chance to survive.

It can rot for all the public cares...the faster the better...

Umno's death is unavoidable. It's before or by next GE. Whatever happens now; including Kugan's death, Syed Hamid's idiotic remarks and Botak assemblyman crossover are nothing but lethal injections that will guarantee UMNO and BN'd death.

I never thought I'd live to see a crook die under the weight of their dirty money. Now it is for all to see how UMNO and BN die under their money gods, how they refuse to let go of the cholesterol (money) that is clogging up their blood vessels (survival).

I'm enjoying BN's slow suicidal death. Not only that they are bringing their hungry ghost cronies along to the coffin with them.

Ahhhh...life is great. God is not mocked.

Datuk Zaid, with all due respect, there is nothing new that we not already knew about UMNO. Even my pets knew what goes on in UMNO because they bark louder when they heard the word UMNO.

Selective prosecution? Nothing surprise here, it has been going on since Hussein Onn and Mahathir era. In fact it was used by TDM as a tactic to reign in his UMNO war lords.

Tell us what is not selective in Malaysia? Selective ISA, Meritocracy, Detention and Tear Gas and Water Canon....

Datuk Zaid: Isn't selective prosecution this nation's way. Selective sedition charges. Selective ISA arrests. Selective Police brutality. Selective crowd dispersal by FRU. Selective court sentencing.

The Star reported 50 stage protest outside Umno HQ. Guess this is lawful as there was no report of FRU or PeeDArEM there

Zaid ;'Action can only be taken if required or useful to certain top leaders.'
SELECTIVE PROSECUTION has been the NORM since 1988 when M...K played havoc with the judicary and law enforcement and mutilated 'truth and justice'.. since then we have become a nation WITHOUT SOUL. 'Truth and justice'is 'reserved' for certain top leaders who place tehmselves above the law...the lawless corrupted ruling elite!

Datuk Zaid,

I think you know the answer as to why UMNO disciplinary tribunal is forced to practice “selective prosecution”; right?

All UMNO senior members, without exception, have skeletons in their closets and so not one single individual dare go against the party for fear of reprisals by “top management”. As long as those who dare to criticize UMNO limit their criticism to mere words, UMNO’ senior management will, at most, suspend or even expel them. But if those renegades dare to go one step further by exposing the gross corruptions & mismanagements of UMNO’ s senior management, I think the full weight of the law will be thrown at those renegades with full exposures of their own ill gotten wealth via UMNO.
But under such a scenario, I think that might start a stampede of exposures and counter exposures by UMNO senior management which will most definitely end in the demise of UMNO.

That is already happening now!

Politics is all about power, money and filling our own pockets in this country of ours.
Lets be honest, how many of them go into politics just to serve the rakyat or the rakyat insist they go for elections?
Just look at the massive Bangunan UMNO.
How many political parties in the world have such a building to their name? I very much doubt even the two major parties in the US or the UK have anything to compare.
One of the major parties in UK hold their annual party conference in a hotel in Brighton and the other in Blackpool I believe.

Tenku Mat must get out now.
He has incurred the wrath of the wings and the main party and the fact that Najib left his daughter for Rosmah doesn't bode well for Ku Din's future in UMNO under Najib.
So Ku Din, go before they begin an allout attack on your character.
