KUCHING: The Federal Court has reaffirmed the election of Barisan Nasional’s Ding Kuong Hiing as the Sarikei MP after it threw out an appeal by DAP’s Wong Hua Seh against the Election Court’s decision.

Election Judge Datuk Ian Chin dismissed Wong’s election petition on July 21 last year as he found no evidence of bribery in Ding’s election.

Wong filed the petition on grounds of corrupt practices.

The Federal Court, in its judgement Friday, said Wong’s appeal was without merits and dismissed it with costs.

The judgement was read by Federal Court’s deputy registrar Noor Hayati Mat.

Promising to built TAR college in Sri Aman during election time is bribery and BN ,after wining by only 50 plus votes, have gone back on their promise to built TAR college. If this is not bribery, then what do you call it,lies!

BN/SUPP win by this small margin shows that they are losing their support in this small chinese majority town. The next election will see the defeat of SUPP in Sarikei.Mark my words! This time they won with a slim margin becos the independents, put in by SUPP have manage to split some votes.
George Chan,SUPP president, whose support is fast dwindling, may find himself in a dilemma.

Who is the Chief Justice? An UMNO member who admitted to having bribed his way through all levels of the judiciary to get into their good books and who also burnt his marriage cert with his second wife to avoid detection of the marriage. So Ding may win Sarikei for now. But the people will win in the end and the end is near.

Looks like UMNO can't afford another buy-election. So buying the judge will be cheaper.

I think Judge Ian Chin spent too much time in Dr.M's boot camp.
Does any body have a copy of the full written judgement ?

SUPP is using a prominent tycoon to cling on to power. This tycoon who are famous for big projects in Sarawak are helping SUPP to make empty promises to the people during election. All promises have never been fulfill by them.SUPP is a 'old man home'becos all its leaders are way too old for making good on their promises.Young leaders ,like Alan Sim and others ,are been sidelined. Most of the grassroots have already left the party and that why SUPP suffered a humiliating defeat in the last state election.Being defiant again,SUPP will surely close shop for good in the next GE.
I have no doubt and I don't hear it wrong from coffeeshops talks, friends and inside information.Even those past leaders are turning their back on SUPP.
Past Deputy President,Law Hieng Ding, who was a well like person and a MP for Sarikei, fell out of favour with the party president. He resign from the party and all his supporters have left the party. So with so much discontent in SUPP,the next election will surely be the end of SUPP.They say they love the party, but in fact they are dragging SUPP into the grave with them.
