Run-up to K. Terengganu by-election: This is the most peaceful election, says EC PDF Print

(NST) - This is one peaceful by-election. No complaints have been lodged so far by the contesting parties, moving the Election Commission to describe it as more peaceful than previous ones such as Permatang Pauh and Ijok.

The EC reminded all contesting parties to stop their campaigns at midnight on the eve of Jan 16 and to not hold parades or broadcast ceramah speeches on loudspeakers on polling day on Jan 17.

EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Omar Wan Ahmad also said the results of the by-election were expected to be known by 10pm, with postal votes being the first to be counted and displayed.

"We hope that nothing untoward happens on polling day that could mar the process and delay the counting of votes.

"We expect all the ballot boxes to reach the counting centre by 9pm so that we can start counting all 143 voting streams," Wan Omar said here yesterday.

Wan Omar said political parties had been told to restrain their members from parading with motorcycles while carrying flags as this could be construed as campaigning during polling day.

"They should also not broadcast political messages on loudspeakers as this could sway voters and would be interpreted as campaigning."

Those entering polling centres are also reminded not to wear clothes displaying party symbols.

It is not peaceful, only that the PR side realised the futility of seeking help from the Umno owned EC. DAP operation centre is closed. Teachers are forced to attend brain washing meetings. BTN is conducting a racist campaign in KT. Pas raised the issue but didn't lodge a police report bcoz it is futile. Umno is bribing the voters in broad day light but PR won't lodge a police report as that's time wastage. This is bcoz the EC will do nothing.

If it is a peaceful by-election, why do we need 8000 police force here in KT?
People here perceive they are here to CHECKMATE THE LOCALS AGAINST PAS and FAILING THIS, THEY WILL BE USED TO 'PHANTOM VOTE' for BN.

But one of most corrupt! Has the Election Commission not read the newpaper reports of 583 government contracts given out to Class F contractors in Kuala Terengganu on 10 Jan. 2009? The contracts (valued between RM30,000 to RM200,000 each) for infrastructure works were awarded contractors with no question asked on contractor track record or suitability for the works assigned.

During the presentation of contracts, the Umno leader added that if Barisan Nasional wins in the coming Kuala Terengganu by-election, there would be more and bigger such contracts, so that the Class F contractors (confined to Malays, for small contracts) would “continue to make money and the country’s economy would continue to grow”.

What will the Election Commission and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) do about corruption (RM millions of bribes) being given out by Umno leaders for voter support of the Umno candidate?

Wan Omar, Comparatively, Permatang Pauh's by-election consisted of road shows involved Saiful's so-do-mee broad-casting his sexual preference at full blast, Ezam who was trying to sell 6 boxes of decomposed carcasses belong to the known goons, not forgetting Khairy, who vowed to step down if Anwar won the election...The amount of noise pollution created by these 3 scumbags is enough to contaminate the Penang air for a long time to come...

As for the present election, it is peaceful to you since UMNO regime has stuffed money in the voters's mouths, it is quiet because the regime intimidates the people with swarms of police running dogs, it is serene as all KT rakyat are praying quietly in the mosques for a speedy demise of UMNO/BN!!!

Most PEACEFUL election ,says EC. Note,it did NOT claim it to be most FAIR

ENFORCED PEACE by deploying thousands of securiyt personels with the apparent motive to harasses and intimidate the KT VOTERS INTO SUBMISSION will surely back fire. It is the people who have become matured voters while it is BN and their running dogs that have ceased to GROW UP!!!.
