(The Edge) - DAP suffered a minor hiccup yesterday when the party was asked to close down its operations centre in Kg Cina at the heart of the Bandar constituency.

According to DAP’s Kg Cina branch chairman Ng Chai Hing, an officer from the Terengganu State Islamic Department and the person who rented them the premises came in the morning to ask them to leave.

“This shoplot belongs to the state Islamic Department, of which the Terengganu MB heads, and they wanted us to vacate the premises,” said Ng.

When asked if they were given any reasons to leave, Ng said: “No”.

“We don’t want to turn this into an issue. And since we have another operations centre in Batas Baru, we’ll just shift all our furniture and things there.

“Otherwise, they might return again and take all our things,” he added.

According to Ng, DAP had rented the premises from a middleman and not the Islamic Department directly for RM3,500 for the duration of the KT by-election.

“They’ve promised to return the RM3,500 and we’ll leave the matter for now,” said Ng.
