Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Salleh, who risks losing his deputy minister post should he be defeated in the Kuala Terengganu by-election, has brushed aside Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed’s comment that he was a bad choice.

Dr Mahathir’s son, Jerun MP Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, was seen at the nomination today in a show of support for Wan Farid.

Meanwhile, Pas’s Abdul Wahid Endut dismissed the suggestion that it would be problem if he has to represent two seats.

Abdul Wahid, a five-term Terengganu assemblyman, added that he has been taking good care of his state constituency.

But the surprise candidate is independent Azharuddin Mamat, who says he is contesting the by-election in order to help the poor.

He also added he has never been a member of any political party and is using his own money to stand in the by-election.

“I don’t want to comment on that,” Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Salleh told reporters when asked to comment on Dr Mahathir’s latest attack against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi. “But I am happy that the Jerlun MP has hit the campaign trail to be with me in this by-election.”

“This is Hadi’s decision, so I have to abide by the party’s decision,” Abdul Wahid Endut of Pas told reporters when asked if it was unusual for a state representative to run for a Federal post.

“All the money I get as an MP will be invested to help the poor,” said independent candidate Azharuddin Mamat.

Arrogant defeatist attitude by Wan Ahmad Farid will guarantee his losing the buy-election. The humble and modest Wahid should win hands down! This poor independent is so so so naive, poor fellow. And that is what I have to say about the 3 candidates! It's a no brainer - Vote for Pakatan Rakyat, Vote for PAS! Even AKIM says so!

MY COMMENTS:
On MP Jerlun: What do you expect from him? Daddy quit the party, he didn't. Daddy said Farid is a bad, bad, bad choice, he's down in KT showing support for Farid. If this is not a two-faced snake, I don't know what it is.(But then again some of Daddy's spinmasters would interpret is as "being his own man, moving from the shadows of his father)
On state versus federal seat: my 2-words to those UMNO goons who made that noise: Ariff Shah. Why didn't make that noise then?
On "using the money to help the poor" : Not yet win anything, and surely not going to win anything, already talk abt money. Sounds very, very much like a parrot trained by UMNO speech therapist. You can swear on yr mother's grave that you're really, really "independent", I still won't believe you.

Entahlah....Saiful lebih matang daripada penyokong kebal kongsi gelap UMNO. Sekurang-kurangnya Saiful guna pintu belakang untuk dapat popularity bukan seperti Mamat Mahathir guna pintu belakang orang untuk dapat popularity.

Wan Farid a bad choice for the KT's by-election! For that matter even if Najis is named as the candidate, it will still be a bad choice because the two are from the same dirty party. People of KT have had enough of UMNO's abuses and corruption and they will prove it through their votes while trhe Chinese will vote for PAS as a show of protest against UMNO's racist policy.

It's a project conceived to line the deep pockets of the UMNOputras, create hardship for the people and above all, as a golden handshake for Pak Lah's farewell. I can't think of it any other way because there is just no logic for wasting a good RM1.36 billion for the LCCT at Labu when Subang Airport is empty and KLIA is grossly under capacity.
