(The Sun) - Several members of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), led by its supreme council member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, today lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on a list of cases of alleged abuse of power involving Barisan Nasional politicians, particularly from Umno, on various allegations of corruption dating back years.

Badrul told theSun the cases involved Umno politicians, who had allegedly bribed members for votes and also a few 'irregulaities' involving senior politicians.

The report also requested the MACC re-open and investigate cases, among others, those involving former International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, Badrul said.

Badrul, accompanied by PKR members, submitted a dossier, supposedly containing 'information and evidence' on the politicians to MACC assistant investigating oficer Hasrul Abdul Yazid at the MACC headquarters at 10.45am.

"The MACC has more power now and since we believe 'their hands are not tied' like when they used to be an agency, they can now investigate these cases without fear and favour," he said.

"The ACA had in past issued statements that the Umno politicians could not be prosecuted for corruption because of the lack of evidence and witnesses. So today, we come forward with the evidence and we want the MACC to investigate these cases thoroughly. We want to test the effectiveness of the MACC and we hope they can start investigating these cases because it involves national interest."

He added that PKR will continue furnishing evidence of corruption to the MACC from time to time and will monitor how effective the commission is in discharging its duties.

The details of the dossier were not immediately known, but is believed to also contain incriminating documents on alleged corruption by a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, lawyer Datuk V.K Lingam made a surpise visit to the MACC headquarters and had the media in a frenzy when he entered the building minutes before noon.

The lawyer, who was in the public spotlight over a video clip of him allegedly brokering the appointment of judges, came out an hour later.

Approached by reporters who were there to cover PKR's report, Lingam said he was there to request the release of some documents that he had given the ACA.

He however, declined to reveal if the documents were linked to the video clip incident. He said the MACC is looking at releasing the documents.

THAT is speedy action by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). So in future, before anyone start to shoot down PKR for sitting on its backside and twiddling their thumbs, think of of all the positives of PKR and its relentless pursuit of justice.

Evidence of gross corruptions against UMNO members are aplenty! The key word here is “..will monitor how effective the commission (MACC) is in discharging its duties”.

Indeed, the PKR have to have a dedicated team to follow up on corruption cases submitted to the MACC as there is no point in lodging reports if no action is taken by the MACC or the cases sit in limbo only to have them discharged due to the normal “lack of evidence” excuse.

PKR may have just unveiling just couple small cases up their sleeves to test the MACC effectiveness. I hope they have the bigger cases with evidences storing at the SAFE DEPOSIT to be used later. :-)

PKR had done their job as a good citizen, now for Rakyat to observe closely how efficient, fast and impartial MACC get their act together. I hope they are not selective ie not taking action against big shot of any party members and take swift comprehenssive action against the "ikan bilis" only.

Let's all watch how MACC is going to address the complains in impartial manner. Just keep our fingers crossed that it means business to eradicate fraud and irregularities. If it remains the same old complacent mode, we KICK them then and there with our votes!!!

If they really act on those complaints a large chunk of the cabinet may be wiped out. As such I doubt they will act on anything. This whole thing is just a sandiwara.

MACC will deliver the same conclusion as always- "Case Close". Nothing will come out of any investigations as long as everyone gets paid to keep their mouth shut. After all MACC together with many other agencies can be bought, PDRM and Immigration are the two finest high profile organisations where corruption is a way of life. Anyone can pay off a policeman for minor traffic offences such as speeding. RM50 will get you off for speeding. How about getting an extension of a work permit, RM200 will do. All problems can be solved so long as money passes hands. Ask any foreign business people working in Malaysia and they'll tell you that they like Malaysia as they can get away with virtually anything because they are prepared to pay.

Just wait and see what MACC can do. Look at the Judiciary, the AGC, the PDRM. They all belong to the UMNO-led Govt. Any action taken so far on the wrong doings of the govt? Any corruption cases involving high profile ministers, politicians, ex-judges, prominent lawyers?

The Chief Commissioner and his deputies are afraid of losing their jobs.

Let us all bet: I say "no further action". All cases closed. Not enough evidence.

It's basically simple common sense. It doesn't work if the same corrupt people are trying to fight corruption. They are actually the biggest culprits, guilty as hell. Will they give MACC a free hand to nab them & prosecute them & put them in jail for 10, 20 or 30 yrs? Bodohland under AAB is so laughable. We all know the Judiciary is not independent, the AGC reports to the corrupt man(men), the PDRM does not work in the interests of the rakyat... How does it intend to fight itself? crazy. no way. A change of federal govt is the only way out for Malaysia.
