he horrendous poverty we see in this video is due to years to neglect, starting from MArcos. A few decade ago, Philipine was knowned as one of the richest country in Asia, 1 Peso was at one time equal to 1 USD. Then MArcos and his cronies took power, totally neglecting to develop Philippine but only busy enriching themselve. Now, a few decade later, Philipine is knowned as a sick man of Asia. 1 USD equals to 48.5 Peso !! The biggest foreign exchange earner for philipine is maid and male hard labour !

Do you see the similarity with the Malaysia today ? With Malaysia current rampant corruption, Malaysia is even worst ! Corrupt politicians will kill the country, for sure. With high population growth , little foreign investment, low education standard, no economic growth, no job creation will lead to horrendous abject poverty as shown in the video in not too long a time.

MAlaysia has all the similar symptoms. This video is a warning to MAlaysia!!

I hope the entire new generation of MAlaysians, especially the MAlay, will wake up ! Get rid of BN/UMNO to save Malaysia from descending to like Philipine. The world does not owe anybody a living. MAlaysia oil is running out. Our current year budget, 40% of government revenue come from oil, calculated based on oil price of 130 to 140 USD, now oil price is 43 USD, a reduction of more than 3 times! Most of Foreign investment have already been diverted to China ,India and Vietnam. Many MNC are also pulling out gradually. MAny more will do so if MAlaysia fails again to conclude FTA with USA under Obama (largely due to NEP). Now, we are facing the biggest recession since the great depression. And yet, all these gloomy development have not the slight effect on the corrupt moron UMNO government.

In 1998 there was a drought in Indonesia so many Indons had no food so guess what? They caught stray cats, killed them & roast them over the fire for food. I bet dogs were eaten too, and when hunger struck, their meat are not haram. It was the difference between starvation & death, or living for another day.

So that was the extent of poverty in Indonesia; and now years after Marcos' death, millions of Filipinos are living in abject poverty. The same for the poor Indons; my maid told me she had never held any cash in her entire life. In the villages, they barter food they grew for rice. Many of them had never even touch any cash (sounds unbelievable).

Indonesia, Philippines & Malaysia have one big common feature; all three countries are governed by extremely corrupt government. This is not a mere coincidence. Some day, Malaysia will become like the first two because we have an extremely corrupt group of men who have no qualms abt draining the country's reserves thru crude & stupid wastage, extortion, corruption, lying, u name it! They have done it. This corrupt govt must go before Malaysia goes bankrupt like Indonesia & Philippines whereby all the wealth is in the hands of 5 - 10% of the population. And the thieves are called VVIPs and the elite.

So the idea is, pls go to Kuala Trengganu and tell these good Malay folks, if BN gives any of them cash, take the cash & vote PAS. For the sake of Malaysia, pls do it.

Dear sonofmalaysia,

Very insightful analysis. . ., now if I may add up.

As we know that many West, East and sub-Saharan African countries have difficulties in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). They remain poor despite the north and south African countries are quite prosperous.

These African countries have similar symptoms as some Asian countries (as in your example, the Philippines). Myanmar (Burma) too, was once a prosperous country. You do not have to read economic books to know this. Just read some of the classic literature written by Kipling, Conard and Maugham and they will tell you what Rangoon is compared to Kuala Lumpur (or Singapore for that matter) before WWII. As I said, these countries have the usual characteristics; that they are being either ruled by one party for prolong period of time or that they are being ruled by a dictator. Now, some of these dictators are nevertheless being "elected" (through "rigged” election process of course). Corruption, nepotism and cronyism are rampant. Investors doing business in these countries would be a nightmare. . ., every door that an investors approach, they would have to pay “bakshih, palm grease, or coffee money” (in UMNO they call it “politik wang”) it all means the same. . ., bribe! Check out some of the articles from journals written by some economic and political guru in the net, and you will find a “direct correlation between corruption and FDI inflow”!

Getting back to Malaysia, we are blessed that we have continuously natural resources, tin, rubber, palm oil and of late petroleum. No doubt, this nation is rich! But than, the wealth did not go to the masses, rather, it finds its way to a selected few. And these selected few are ruling this country. Now, those people who walk in the corridors of power are not merely stealing the peoples’ money, they have developed a knack of “wholesale looting”. The amount is not a mere several millions RM, but billions of RM.

With this amount of money, they need to have a place to “park” the money. Of course they will not keep it in the country . . ., hence this ill-gotten wealth will by itself be an outflow of cash from our country. In the 80’s and 90s’ they shipped this money to Cayman, Bahamas or Switzerland., but now, they set up their own banks in third world African and European countries (yes, there are 3rd world European countries too). . ., in other words, the looting of the nation’s wealth has become sophisticated.

This nation, as you said will be “Fillipinoed”, if the UMNO/BN regime continues to rule this nation. . ., it is we who will have to chart our destiny!
