Another reason why Musa not fit to be IGP - contempt for Royal Police Commission report when he  equates politicians seeking to mainstream human rights with big-time criminals

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan has provided another reason to the two I gave in Parliament yesterday when moving a censure RM10 salary-cut motion against him why  he is not fit to continue as the top police officer in the country for another day.

This new evidence is provided by today's New Straits Times front-page headlines of Musa's speech yesterday, "Top cop blasts errant politicians", which carried front-page  quotes by  Musa, viz:

"Don't be role models for criminals, says IGP" and

"Politicians should be helping to build a better society instead of destroying it. If politicians do not respect the law, then criminals would do the same."

I do not know about other politicians but I feel deeply offended by Musa's smug and conceited statement for two reasons:

Firstly, responsible and principled politicians never hold themselves as models for criminals, as when we break the law or are held to have broken the law, it is not for any self-gain or profit like robbing public coffers or private wealth.

Does Musa regard Gandhi has having spent his whole life to be a "role model for criminals", and if not, he should withdraw his offensive remark and apologise to all responsible and principled politicians in the country.

Secondly, it is very clear from Musa's statement that he has not understood or accepted the thrust of the Royal Police Commission Report – to "make compliance with prescribed laws and human rights one of the three top priorities for PDRM".

The Royal Police Commission, headed by former Chief Justice Tun Daziddin and former Inspector-General of Police, Tun Hanif Omar, in its Report, Chapter 10, Section 2.1.1 said:

"As the police are there to protect the human rights of the individual whilst maintaining law and order, making policing in Malaysia more compliant with prescribed laws and human rights standards must clearly be a supreme priority for PDRM, along with reducing crime and eradicating corruption.  The Ministry of Internal Security, the proposed IPCMC and the leadership of PDRM must continue efforts to launch a comprehensive and sustained initiative that encompasses changes to policy, legislation, codes of ethics and conduct, directives and procedures and training to substantively enhance compliance."

It is also clear that Musa has either forgotten or ignored the Royal Police Commission's call for "a fundamental transformation in the character of policing in Malaysia from one that is too easily persuaded to seek recourse in extraordinary emergency laws and giving itself as much space (such as through long remand periods), to one that is sensitive and respectful of the rights of individuals".

When Musa cannot see the fundamental difference between politicians who are trying to mainstream human rights to create a better Malaysia from big-time criminals,  it is time that Malaysia has a new Inspector-General of Police who can provide the leadership to create an efficient, incorruptible, human rights-sensitive, professional world-class police service which can be the pride of all Malaysians.

If you were to insinuate they are pseudos,
They can't accept your criticism or innuendos,
Everything you say is either seditious or bodoh.......

We need a clear separation of powers and roles of law enforcers, among others like:

1. Royal Malaysian Police
2. Malaysian Armed Forces
3. Anti Corruption Agency
4. Royal Customs
5. Immigration Department
6. Road Transport Department
7. City Halls/Town councils enforcement units

Everyone should have its own autonomy on roles and no one can overlap each other. A special act must be passed on to punish with maximum mandatory penalty if anyone who break the law while performing their duties. A continuous good character and behavior training program for these people must be done every 2 years until they retire. This include religious trainings and programs. Any offense committed relating to the trust of their duties, shall be no excuse and they should be expelled on the first offense.

looks like we have a PDRM mind who is intellectually and morally bankrupt.
His understandings and comprehensions are all juvenile (that is being polite)

Cannot run the law enforcement of a nation with this type of deficits.
Its time this person was changed, to a post that suits his compete - don't promote people to their level of incompetence.

A case of miscommunication. The other guy was trying to insult LKS and his friends. This made LKS think about his friends who are good politicians. Those who are responsible and principled enough to stand up for good governance and social justice. Good politicians who will publicly speak out against the cruel detention without trial of innocent citizens, as well as on other issues.

Meanwhile, the other guy spoke from his own experience. Notice what he said. Politicians should build a better society, not destroy society. Because when politicians do not respect the law, criminals will follow their bad example.
Who was this guy really thinking about when he spoke of politicians as role models for criminals? Perhaps his bosses? or perhaps his subordinates?

I wonder how he came to be IGP. His remarks potrays he has no upstairs for the job. Can he not understand the duties of politicians to the rakyat?? Yes by all means nabbed politicians or any one who are crooks. But is he doing his job? Even lobbying for his son Co. to get contracts - is that his job!!! He probably got his degree from the mail order houses or with a pistol to the Dean's head.

One of my fond sayings is:

Wisdom often comes with age but unfortunately for some, age comes alone.

I remember Musa Hassan as not a too bright lout during our school days and looks like he hasn't changed much proving the point of the saying. QED.

So, why is he still the IGP?
Despite all the allegations against him, no one seem to be able to come up with some solid evidence that stick.
Yes, i too believe he is not fit to be the IGP.
But it matters not, as he's still holding the reins of power.
So sad!!!

He is there because he is serving at the pleasure and command of the pm. He has done a remarkable job and follow pm commands very well. He has so much power and authority that he is now telling the politicians how to behave; "don't be role models for criminals".

Even the aca is still investigating and found nothing yet. Meanwhile, increasing crimes is not really worrying matter, only misperception. We are OK compared to neigbouring countries. So sad that this is the kind of igp we have. May Allah guide him accordingly.

Integrity, ethical governance, accountabilty and irreproachable character are the fine qualities of a world class top notch law enforcer.

When there signs of improprieties, and collusion for personal financial gain, then it's a sure sign to take leave and bow out from public service.

The taxpayers have a right to be angry when the hands of a top law enforcer of the country have been tainted.

Only criminals are against human rights...

hence as a corollary to that theorem, the IGP has to be a criminal...
