What Is The Pakatan Doing? PDF Print

I am travelling today for a symposium overseas and had much to do and deal with before I left. Time constraints prevented me from writing an opinion piece for Disquiet in print. My apologies.

If I had had the time, I would have written on what I think and how I feel about the Pakatan Rakyat, more particularly PKR, offering a Deputy Chief Minister’s position to Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah (if reports are true).

I do not think this is the kind of example that the Pakatan wants to set and I am wondering how it is that those who lead the coalition could have even thought of making such an offer (if true). There has already been intense debate about whether cross-overs should be accepted as a point of principle, with the DAP having been very clear about its disagreement. Accepting a cross-over and offering him a plum position in the administration is something that far more extreme.

There are several ways this can be looked at. What does Arif Shah offer that so many of those who have struggled for so long in the pursuit of change-for-the-better cannot? His UMNO credentials? His network of UMNO supporters? The insult his defection would amount to?

Yes Malik i have my fears, Arif may be doing what he wants to do because he is drowning and running away from the wolves who have turned to him .
There is no value , no stature , no honor having him here for all the difficult fights PK has gone thro in its principled achievements.

If the E. Malaysian MP's are wanting to switch over , that value is totally different. I support that!
Its actually fighting EVIL with the persecuted ones who have every right !

Well the ruling party or shall i say ubno has done it again. now you see. even the rakyat that voted PR has no trust in them anymore. Inilah yang di kata kan "pecah dan perintah" bahasa inggeris nya "divide n rule", jadi kalu kita semua tak prihatin, lingkup le semua. smilies/smiley.gif

Maybe its a bait for Arif, to see his true intentions, and see what kind of man he is. Maybe if he accepts it, Anwar might not even give it to him, and just to show how weak is the peoples commitment to UMNO. Maybe he is going to do a "Tok Guru", (remember when UMNO was playing up a pact with PAS in protecting Malay and Islam rights? Tok Guru played along and up the ante - dissolve both parties and start a new one together in the name of Malay and Islam and implement hudud laws- and how the UMNO jokers fleed the scene and duck for cover?"

If Arif really hates the UMNOs division leaders and really want to serve his constituents well, he can join PKR even without the position rewards..... then he would be a true man....

Arif Shah may be a plant to catch PKR - especially DSAI - for bribery. So please do not fall into this trap. He can come over and make it expressly clear that he will not get any government positions until he proves himself. Inviting him to cross over with promises of DY CM's position is to court disaster!

So you haven't verified the story, but you just have to publish your opinion, what's the matter, Malik, the sun won't rise tomorrow if you don't give your opinion on something you don't know for sure, or is it that we Malaysians are so short on issues that you need to dissect and discuss every imaginable rumor? Meanwhile let's knock the BN and Polis for being stupid while we just act like righteous imbeciles.

DSAI had already denied that Arif was enticed with a DCM 1 post.
This means that Arif will NOT get that post even if he hops over.

Why write a thesis based on MSM agenda and rumour ?
