Umno Has To Make Fundamental Changes - Hishammuddin PDF Print

(Bernama) -- Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the party has to make fundamental changes and re-look at its structure after the March election.

These were important to ensure disciplinary problems such as money politics could be overcome, he said.

"This issue has often been raised during party elections. To deal with it effectively, we have to look back at the party's structure.

"I believe we will do it after the March election. This positive development must allow us to look at the party's structure, the changes that we want to make after March," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby Tuesday.

He was commenting on the remarks by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday that efforts to eradicate money politics in the party were a process that require political will and realistically, it could not be solved in the near term.

Hishammuddin who is Education Minister, said those who were given party posts after the March election must also be united and determined in dealing with the issue.

"Hopefully after the election we can see, especially in terms of the structure, constitution, our struggle which demand us to look back at what we have done not only in Umno but also in Barisan Nasional after the 12th general election," he said.

On the stance by Umno Youth chief contestants Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir and Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo not to hold government posts even if they won the election, Hishammuddin said: "It is up to them."

"We always offer ourselves to serve if we are given the opportunity to serve no matter what. MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong who is also Deputy Education Minister, like it or not Wee has to accept and bear it because our objective to offer ourselves is to serve.

"If the leadership thinks we have an advantage to serve not only in the party but also in the government, why not," he said.

Wonder what kind of song Hi Shah Mmud Din will sing if he is voted out of power due to UMNO money politics? I think due after the 12th. GE, UMNO will become even more fragmented due to money politics. Fittingly, UMNO becomes: "Live with corruption, die with corruption!"

Fundamental change would be NO MONEY POLITICS, not power crazy, no elitism, be good statesmen, well read, good sportsmanship, intellectual and independent thinking and lastly don't forget that RAKYAT is your BOSS.

You will have no doubt notices that his idea of "fundamental" changes have all to deal with looking inwards. No mention of the real issues plaguing Malaysia. They simply dont have a clue as to what is happening in this country nor how to deal with the problems

Lets look at the fin

What a crying shame. When I saw the title that says UMNO needs fundamental change, I thought they're gonna stop talking about Malay Supremacy or religious extremism, and fixing the direct negotiation system. Then I realise it's Bernama, and thus it becomes a waste of time to read that it only concerns money politics. It's all smoke and noise, no substance at all.

Pretty much all members of the rakyat (who can think) understand that a person's internal values cannot and never will change. A persons values can be hidden, camouflaged, etc, but it can never be changed or bettered.

How does a party support paedophiles, women gropers, land expropriators, racist educators, racial fear mongerers, money launderers, filthy minds into its highest leadership positions to represent the party, a peoples, and lead a nation ?

Its clear that the Malays, Chinese, and Indians have realized that their (and their children's) futures have no chance of upliftment with the filth, evil, and coercion in governance.

What can malaysians make of UMNO knowing that office bearers are there becausethey have pay for their position and will seek ways and means to make back what they have paid out.

Malaysians must not accept such crooks and amalysians must seek to change govt.

UMNO can only change if they have a LEADER LIKE ZAID IBRAHIM. There is completely no one fit to be the president of UMNO at the moment. Non is clean, upright, transparent, accountable, just, intellectual, non racist. How to change if everyone is only going for MONEY POLITICS? Ask yourself, not even you are suitable for any post. How to run a successful country having all the rich resources! Everyone in UMNO wans something without working for it!

The first fundamental change you UMNO need to do is to not raise the keris in a show of Malay Supremacy. We take it very personally. To us, it is a threat asking us to shut up or else...

We, the rakyaat think UMNO is too rotten to undergo any cosmetic surgery, overhaul or, change. The rotten stinking flesh of UMNO is unbearable and has made our daily lives miserable. Our children have pledged that they do not want to be associated with UMNO in the future. You see, our children sympathized with us when we told them the rotten stinking UMNO stole our money and took away our basic human rights.

What we are saying is that UMNO has no future and we and our children will burry UMNO for good in the next General Election!

Gee...what’s that stinking smell? Oh no, another UMNO leader appears on TV. Sorry I have to stop writing now and switch off the TV.bye!

Yes, agree. The fundamental change that the raayat wish to see is a total elimination of corrupt UMNO from the face of the world in the next GE. Let us bury UMNO and creat history.

My sentiments exactly Hiro, the title is misleading, there is plenty of talk and rethoric.
Doing a post mortem on Mar 08 election setbacks.
Doing some soul searching wht they lost support.
Rebranding by listening to what the people want
Making themselves relevant.
Waking up to the realities of the new political landscape.

Mere words without actions to back them are worthless.

It would certainly be an improvement and upgrade to UMNO's image...one small step at a time.

Everytime some UMNO fellas will cite "We have to change" ---- I think more appropriate U guys are saying change to hide more truth, tell more lies, allow the crooks to steal more or encourage more stealing, create more disunity among the races, take over the judiciary & run it UMNO style, threatened the rakyat with PDRM & kamuting etc. Even if intentions are solidly good, I dare say What can UMNO do?? Its just a nest where all its leaders have over stayed and have gotten fat with fat bank accounts or so call war-chest. So how to change -- only solution is to get rid of UMNO during the next election. In UMNO, nothing but GREED --- greed for money, power & arrogance plus no opportunities for any malays wanting to walk the right course.

Dear DS Hishammuddin, How are you going to initiate any fundamental change in UMNO? Just walk the talk. One suggestion for you to start is to see to the demise of UMNO and you can start with a new political party and recruit members regardless of their race, language or religion. This is your only hope to redeem yourself in Malaysia politics and to make your late father proud.
