Rafidah: I will stay on if elected Wanita chief PDF Print E-mail

Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz today announced that she would be defending her post in the party polls in March next year.

Rafidah who had garnered 117 nominations also said she would not step down if she wins the contest, effectively tearing to shreds the original transition plan hammered out with Datuk Shahrizat Jalil which would have seen the former retiring by next June.

Her announcement was made just a day after Shahrizat, the movement's No 2, said she would run for the Wanita chief's post. Shahrizat has 73 nominations and has also qualified to defend her Wanita deputy chief's post.

"I appreciate and respect the nominations that I have received from 117 divisions. I will let the delegates who represent the grassroots to decide the leader that they want for the period of 2009 to 2011," said Rafidah in an 11 page statement.

She was also disappointed with Shahrizat for not adhering to the transition plan which was agreed by everyone in the Wanita Umno exco.

"I am disappointed because the transition plan was questioned and rejected, more than three months after I made the announcement in August 2008. Since that day nobody, whether in the exco or outside, ever questioned it," said Rafidah.

She said that she did not expect a revolt after the end of the nomination process and believed that if any quarter in Wanita wanted to object to the transition plan, it should have been raised before the start of Umno divisional meetings, so the exco could have set aside the plan.

"Objection was raised after enough nominations were obtained, with baseless excuses," said Rafidah.

She added that the transition plan should not be affected by the postponement of party polls to March, and the issue of bringing forward the transition date does not arise.

"If it is brought forward to March, it means I am forced to surrender the post to Shahrizat without a contest. This denies the wishes of the 117 divisions who nominated me to lead until June 2009," said Rafidah.

Rafidah was the Minister of International Trade and Industry before she was dropped from the Cabinet after the last General Election, despite retaining her Parliamentary seat in Kuala Kangsar.

Shahrizat, who lost her Lembah Pantai seat to PKR's Nurul Izzah Anwar, was made Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Women Affairs.

In August, Rafidah had agreed to step down in June next year to pave the way for Shahrizat to take over the movement's leadership, but the postponement of the party polls to March made many Wanita Umno leaders urge Rafidah to reconsider the transition plan.

Last weekend, the Wanita Umno exco reaffirmed its earlier decision for the top two posts in the wing not to be contested, but Kuala Kangsar Wanita chief, Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim, who has already qualified to run for No 2, insisted that the Wanita Umno exco had no right to decide on the movement's leadership.

Kamilia, who is also a Wanita Umno exco member, has won the No 2 post uncontested since Shahrizat has decided to go for the top post.

The Iron Lady was unkind to Abdullah and supported those who wanted him to leave early. This is Abdullah's revenge to humiliate you! Iron Lady Vs Clay Lady! If you lose it will be a humiliation at the end of your career and you will go to the grave with it. Why don't you just go away gracefully? You have had power and money for a long time. Just go honey!

Shahrizat had taken the bait & she did not even know it. She did not realise that the push for her to contest the no. 1 post was actually set up by Rafidah whom had no intention to give up her post.

Now how is Shahrizat whom will be branded as an impatient, unloyal and selfish women (qualities important for a leader especially a woman) going to win the post?smilies/cry.gif

This is my take on the matter:

Rafidah only wanted the Wanita Chief's position for 3 months to get back a cabinet post after which she was prepared to vacate the Wanita Chief post to Shahrizat. The spanner in the works was Kamilia who won't play ball. This now forces Shahrizat's hand and by going for the Wanita Chief's position, it only benefited Kamilia who is now the Deputy Chief by default (no contest). Having lost to Nurul Izzah Anwar in the March election, Shahrizat needed an important post to be able to get back into the thick of politics. Looks like Shahrizat may have been shafted now as there is no more Deputy post to fall back to and Rafidah has reneged on not contesting should there be a challenger. Now watch the claws come out as these two cats eye each other off. OK Corral, here we come. Never underestimate a old wily politician.

The old saying "I am 51% NICE, 49% BITCH, percentage subject to change without notice" is coming true. Do most of us care. Not really!!!!!!

She should run for umno VP or even president post.
The current contenders are real intellect lightweights - she can easily con them.

That's right, girls! FIGHT ONE ANOTHER!!!
Kick each other between the legs! (not that one is going to find anything there)
Pull each others' hairs! (facial hair, armpit hair, there hair...)
Punch those headlights out!
Do the pinch!! Do the pinch!!!
(We'll try to get Chua Soi Lek's personal VCD recording person to tape the fight)

Rafidah Aziz name is synonymous with corruption as KFC with fried chicken.
But to associated her name with a "Tan Sri", is a great disgrace.
In short, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz would read as Tan Sri Corrupt.
We don't care a hood who win the Wanita Chief post, we just want this fat thick skinned lady to cough out all the APs illegal money back to the Rakyat.

Everyone of the Wanita members are dumb or have no guts except Kamilia. Wanted to say they have no balls but that is quite obvious. smilies/grin.gif

Anyway, only Kamilia has the political astuteness to see and seize a rare opportunity that was staring everyone in the face. Nobody else saw it or none of them had the guts to go for it. As it turns out, Kamilia is suddenly elevated to the No.2 position by a bit of guts and political smart.

Of the top 2 contenders, whichever one wins doesn't bother me. But just for fun, I'd root for the Iron Lady --- just so that she continues to be a pain in the butt for the Mahathirists.

Rafidah's biggest mistake. She should hv known that some divisions supported her becos of the transition plan but now the thought of another whole term of leadership by her may not be tolerable. Instead of stepping down with glory she opts for the opposite. Bye... bye... Rafidah

DEAR GRANDMA RAFIDAH,
My suggestion is "Give way to somebody new" WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE? There is "A GOOD CHANCE THAT YOU WILL BE HUMBLED TO THE DUST" .My suggestion is leave peacefully and go back to do something benefecial such as take care of your Grandchildren, because at least they may pray for you once you are called to answer and returned to the ALMIGHTY.

Rafidah can go and see Mahathir and cry infront of him to seek the Silver Fox's help, why is she still cling to the Wanita Chief Post? it is because she may have another chance to be Minister again after the completion of transition plan of PM from AAB to Najib! Marked my words, it will be the last dream of this Queen of the thiefs of AP!!!
