(The New Straits Times) - TELUK INTAN: The Barisan Nasional will work hard to wrest the Sitiawan, Pantai Remis and Pasir Bedamar state seats from the DAP in the general election.
{mosgoogle right}Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali said: "It would be tough but we will work on strategies to take them back. We are confident that the BN will retain its parliamentary seats." He was speaking after attending the co-ordinating meeting of the Bagan Datoh, Teluk Intan, Pasir Salak, Lumut and Beruas BN divisions here yesterday. Perlis Umno closes ranks
KANGAR: State Umno members have pledged to put the party above personal interest when the candidates list for the general election is announced. State Umno liaison committee chief Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the grassroots members had promised to support Barisan Nasional candidates, regardless of whether they had personal differences with the particular candidate. "I have asked the party branch heads whether they would be looking at candidates or supporting the party regardless of who is contesting. They unanimously support whoever is contesting under Umno's ticket," he said.
ACA to vet candidates
ALOR STAR: The Anti-Corruption Agency will vet all potential candidates for the Barisan Nasional in the coming general election. ACA director of investigations Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdull said the list of names was in the agency's election database for screening later. "The screening process is a routine one. It's like screening the government officers before they are promoted," he told the New Straits Times.
