By Debra Chong, The Malaysian Insider The tiff between the DAP and its Pakatan Rakyat ally Pas over the controversial new policy for house ownership in Kedah seems to be blowing over.
DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said that the controversy sparked by the state's new housing ownership policy is in the process of being resolved. He said he had raised the issue at a Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting in Parliament last Tuesday. "I am given to understand that there is no change from the previous position on bumiputera housing quota in the state," he said in a press statement today. However, he added that he was prepared to travel to the state capital, Alor Setar, to meet up with Azizan to settle the matter, if necessary. Earlier last month, the Pas-led state government irked the DAP when it announced a new policy allocating as much as 50 per cent of new houses to bumiputeras. The Chinese-dominated political party's state legislative representative for Kota Darul Aman, Lee Guan Aik, had openly protested against the new policy by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak.
