I'm not a terrorist. I'm not a dangerous person. I'm just a writer: Raja Petra PDF Print

"Malaysia Today" website operator and blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin said he was surprised with the High Court's decision here to release him from ISA (Internal Security Act) detention.

He said not many people had succeeded in their application to challenge the detention under Section 8 of the ISA.

"Therefore, I had not placed high hopes in being released early. It was 50-50," he said when met by reporters after High Court judge Datuk Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad ordered his relase at 3.20pm today.

Asked about his feelings, Raja Petra who was surrounded by his supporters, said, "I'm just too tired."

Asked about the lesson he learned from his ISA detention, he said the court's decision showed that the ISA could not be used for a political motive.

"I suppose we have to fight all out to get the ISA abolished. I'm not a terrorist. I'm not a dangerous person. I'm just a writer," he said.

Raja Petra who was accompanied by his wife Mable @ Marina Lee then left the court grounds in a Rolls Royce with the registration number, WNT 71.

Earlier, the blogger who was clad in jeans and brown T-shirt, arrived in a white van at the court complex at 3.15pm accompanied by five officers from the Kamunting Detention Centre in Perak.

He had been taken out of the centre at 11.30 a.m.

He was welcomed at the court grounds by his wife and their two daughters, Suraya, 34, and Sarah, 19, and about 100 supporters wearing T-shirts with the words "I'm With RPK" printed on them, and repeatedly shouting "RPK".

Some also carried banners that read, "We Want Our Rights", "No to ISA" and "Free RPK. Abolish ISA."

Joy was clearly written on Raja Petra's face as he hugged his wife tight.

About 50 photographers from local and foreign media jostled to snap pictures of the beaming blogger who made the thumbs-up sign. (Bernama)

RPK is not a terrorist nor a threat to national security ... he is just a writer whose PEN is mightier than any sword, ISA, or any other weapon the despotic Govt. under Barisan Najis wields ! Why ask if RPK learnt anything from his detention ?? He is already much more enlightened than any of the so-called Muslims who run this dictatorial Govt.

The question should be if the Despotic Govt. learnt anything from this sorry episode ?? like human rights will prevail over their administration of injustice always ... like good will always prevail over evil ... the PEN is always mightier than the sword !! You may incarcerate our bodies, but you will never own our minds or our souls, Barisan Najis !! Learn that !!

Dear RPK,

Glad you are back and hope you will write soon. . .

As a writer I could imagine how it was like being deprived of a pen and paper (and lap top of course!).

Those feelings and agony was best described by Pramodaya Anata Toer, the Indonesian writer who almost won the Nobel Prize in literature for his “Buru Quartet”. Pramodaya described that while being imprisoned in the Buru Island, the real test during his years of imprisonment was when the authorities deprived him of pencil and paper. As a writer, this is like loosing a limb.

Much later, one of the guards sympathized with the writer gave him a pencil and some scraps of paper which he had smuggled from the Warden’s office. Pramodaya described that upon receiving these two precious items he wrote and wrote non-stop for several days and night. He said it was like “ampangan yang pecah”, meaning like a “bursting dam”. . ., and the ideas keep on flowing for several days . . . non-stop!

So Pete. . ., I guess this is what you might have felt right now. But than again, for you I think the ideas will not merely stop in several days. . ., most likely as long as you are still breathing!

Salam from the Gulf!

Section 2 ISA 1960 says 'terrorist' means "any person" who -

a) by the use of any fire-arm ...
b) carries ... any fire-arm ...
c) demands ... supplies for the use of .... prejudicial to public safety...

Home Ministry just want to split hair on this interpretation on "any person" ?

We salute RPK for his ZEAL to bring forth ' Justice & Truth '.

Let's continue to Fast and Pray for Wisdom, Peace and Tranquility to prevail.

Let's continue to campaign to "RELEASE all ISA detainees & ABOLISH ISA NOW!"

Syabas to all Peacemakers.

YM RPK, you're right. You're not a terrorist nor harmfulness to the public except for UMNO goons. Actually, UMNO & BN are the terrorist, racism, criminals, unlawful, oppressors, and as such.

You are the hero of the people who want justice, peace and prosperity on this land. You are the voice of truth of this soil. You have re-shaped the mind of those who read your postings and rekindled the vanishing hope of the oppressed in this nation for respect and fair treatment. We can hold our heads up, walk tall in front of our foreign friends because of some people like you, without whom, there will be no future for this land we call home.

Sir RPK, you deserved to be the next Agung of Malaysia!
Those discriminatory and/or repressive laws and policies MUST to be abolished. Government of the day MUST get your endorsements before any law or policy can be passed. That is what a King is all about, isn't it? smilies/cool.gif smilies/wink.gif smilies/cheesy.gif
