Last night my family & I went for the candlelight vigil at Padang PJ. It was drizzling when we left Kota Kemuning at 7.30pm. Traffic at Federal Highway was rather heavy. In the car, my parents were praying for the rain to stop. However, we were in high spirits; especially my two kids for they have been waiting for Daddy and Mommy to bring them to the candlelight vigil for weeks!
This is our first time attending the vigil. When we got there, we saw crowds of people with colourful umbrellas gathering. We had only 2 umbrellas and there were 6 of us, so my son and I shared a "sunshade" instead. It was really 'semangat' being present there and seeing so many people willing to stand in the rain for RPK, for justice! YES, FREE RPK, NO TO ISA! My 8 year old son and 17 year old girl had a great time chanting it! All of us did! We have been wanting to join the vigil for weeks and we finally made it. We will be there again next week! We also bought our T-shirts after weeks of waiting. However, my kids were disappointed because there weren't any size for them. I promised them I'll still try to get hold of the T-shirts for them. There was a very sweet lady there who offered my family candles she brought. We did not bring any candles yesterday because we couldn't find any red/yellow coloured candles - my dad went 'hunting' for it before we went for the vigil but was not able to find any. Luckily this wonderful lady spared us some of hers! Thanks! Cheryl Tan
