The Malaysian Will – Trying to cross the sea by standing and swearing at the ocean PDF Print

We have gone through a whole generation of totally brainwashed sheep. We have followed anything and everything that benefits the people in government and the government system while depriving ourselves and our future generation the chance of a life filled with humanity; where we can see true law and order, where we can be happy with any other race.

When our children do not get the scholarships they deserve, we complain a little, then say, "Baa!" and bow our heads. When we do not get the contracts we ought to deserve as being the most competitive, we complain again but still we say "Baa!" and bow our heads. When our then Deputy Prime Minister was beaten up and hauled to prison on what seemed like trumped up charges, we do not even complain. When RPK was taken away from us, we are even more cowered. We do not even complain anymore. Well, we do; but only to each other.

Malaysians have been taught to always accept, always be agreeable. We are willing to give up our liberty to speak, to think, to act; hoping that by hiding, we will save ourselves from persecution. But we do not see that we are being persecuted every day. Every single day. We see others voicing out for us and get imprisoned. We want to protect ourselves. We say if we keep quiet, then it won't happen to us. We say we are not busybodies. But we are suffering. Our children are suffering. And the children of our children will suffer more if we continue to stick our heads in the sand.

Why should we think change will come if we do not do anything to make change happen? Yes, there are some of us who are willing to voice out. But how many of these are there? 300? 500? 1000? Malaysia has a population of about 27 million. Where is everyone hiding? You can't even hide in the jungles anymore. Even the Penans have been reported to have been persecuted.

A person's will is how a person will act in order to get his wishes fulfilled. The key word here is ACT. Nothing is going to change if we are just going to think about it. Any delay to act erodes our freedom further. Time waits for no man.

Nobody can change anyone else, nor do most intend to. However, by thinking, brooding and complaining about everything and everyone, it isn't going to help either. We all know what has been going on. We have talked about it to death with friends, with family, with other readers of Malaysia-Today. We now need to be willing to act on this knowledge.

If every single one of us rise up to do our part to do what is right, not just do what is right for us individually, but right for all Malaysians irrespective of race or religion, then Malaysia will have a better future. I am not Nostradamus, I cannot foresee what should be the right thing to do or how it should be done but at least by doing something, there is a chance that change can happen. It is by doing nothing that I can guarantee that nothing will change.

Let's all evolve in our public will that you, me and everyone around us will spend some time to act or initiate acts for the good of society without any expectations. Just for the sake of wanting to do something for someone else. Anyone else; not just for people of your own race, of your own religion, of your own beliefs.

Be your own judge.

Not just that.

They are trying to cross the ocean by standing on others' heads and at the same time claiming about how great and special theirs are!

He is Malaysia's true warrior. Every citizen's man! We are lost without the true leader. Anwar needs him as badly as we need him. Looks like Najib is the smarter one after all.

Will the next true leader for all Malaysians step forward?

I'm amazed.... you mean someone else can see Malaysians for what they truly are. A nation of suppressed, downtrodden cowards who can only think of themselves and to hell with everyone else and the country They are so wrapped up in their own importance that its impossible for them to judge themselves as being anything but perfect

UMNO will try to cross the Ocean by lifting both arms while holding a stick, and fervently praying that the Ocean will go away. They will then walk into the ocean, (despite the useless prayer) and drown, because they think that they are infallible.

"I command you, stupid Ocean, to part!!, just like you did for Musa in the past" Well, I hope they drown. Tonight.

R.Shan, remids me of somthing in the bible of someone crying out in the wilderness. The charecter John the Baptist taking on Herod the king for his imoral ways, only to be beheaded and his head handed over in a platter to Herod's mistress so that she will not have to endure further embrassment. Sounds fimiliar,it is exactly what is happening in this country. You are right if everyone and I mean everyone does not take some form action,we have none to blame but ourselves. The enviroments have changed, but human nature is still the same.

Maybe if you all go back to "Daulat Tuanku!" at every opportunity, you might actually feel a little better.

The least we could do is voice our concerns in the blogs, speak out fearlessly, take part in the vigils, encourage our MPs and Aduns, remind of our true history, and in the clearest way possible show malaysians their inherent racism and religious bigotry that divides us and imprisons us in a race and religious cage. It is this we fear to tread, for we are conditioned to be politely agreeable and ecumenical even when it is not demanded.

1) vote - checked
2) sign petitions - checked
3) take to the streets - checked
4) appeal to the King - checked
5) go to jail - checked (err.. at least the big bro did..)

So, do tell - what else need to be done?

Actually there is a No 6 which is the most pertinent thing for us to do. Think about it.

Dear R. Shan,

Your call to rise up and evolve in our public will to initiate actions for society's greater good is indeed commendable. Regretfully, the majority of Malaysians choose to become 'audio-impaired', meaning deaf, whether that choice arises out of fear or inherent apathy.

8 out of 10 Malaysian Chinese will not rise up and evolve because their mindset of 'food on the table' overrides all other considerations. It's in their genetic code - the DNA. This genetic code dates back for thousands of years originating from ancient China. When one Chinese meets another Chinese, the first question that will be greeted will most likely be " HAVE YOU EATEN"? rather than the usual " How are you?" greeting. See ? Their ricebowl is most important of all.

Compare that to Malays, 8 out of 10 will rise up to take to the streets if their leaders provoke them for the sake of their religion, for justice, for the country. "Food on the table" is never their consideration. That's why you see most of rallies and gatherings in the public places are populated by the Malays, besides othe races, other than the Chinese.

So how to expect to achieve critical mass and expect Malaysia to have a better future? The level of collective consciousness is not ready for such transformational change.

2 cents worth.

U r right on the spot, Spear Bing.
Chinese are all kia si esp those males. I have boy cousins, when asked to join us (me n my cousin sister) for candle light vigils, they always come up with excuses, family commitments etc. In short, they are scared ! So pathetic for the next generation, i just cant imagine where they are heading to !

But....
No matter what, its not end of the world yet.
Let the politician do their job , look at the brighter side.
Last 30 years ago, opposition was no where near but now they control 5 states.

I have only this to say.

Be serious on 'What you Prayed for '.
It will come to past.
Let's Fast and Pray for Wisdom , Peace and Tranquility to prevail.

Let's continue to campaign to " RELEASE RPK, and all ISA detainees. ABOLISH ISA NOW!"

Syabas to all Peacemakers.

Dear Justinian,

True, Malaysian political landscape has somewhat evolved with the control of 5 States by the Opposition, in most part facilitated by the ubiqutous internet and the bloggosphere and the growing political awareness of Malaysians.

The revolution of rising expectations of the people has started since March 8, 2008. The poignant question is whether 5 years from now, that momentum of revolution of rising expectations will continue to resonate with heartbeats and pulses of the voters.

Shan is correct. Until the majority starts to satnd up and make a change, nothing is gonna happpen. What have we done for RPK? We speak at forums, comment on the political landscape, and keep hoping for someone to make the change. Come on Malaysia....lets have some "Balls" and stand up for your rights and the rights of your children. Show the political parties that we cannot be taken for a ride anymore. Coax your friends to help make this change!

One can always act like Mat Kilau and Disrupt all UMNO-BN tools...police, judiciary, cawangan, red light, traffic jam....increase the people anger. No need to elaborate. Be unknown, unheard yet caausing Havoc.

Anyway in a few more weeks Malaysia will wake up to a New Government led by non-UMNO-BN...the wheels are in motion. UMNO-BN are in Chaos as we speak. More dissent are coming soon.

" Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has! "
BUT, this is not applicable in Malaysia because most Malaysians are too self centered. We have read endless articles and comments on all these issues and what have we got till today?? Niente, absolutely, Niente!!
Look around the world and we see people power everywhere but in malaysia, it's about pseudo people power!!
What a shame! Shame on many Malaysians. That's right, shame on you if you feel like one!

The thing is - not to go to the streets...we don't want people dying. Remember Tiananmen Square. Bangkok riots and also other riots in Indonesia and in Philippines.

They do achieve a certain purpose but not worth the loss of lives...and having ISA and emergency rule to clamp down on Malaysians is a no-no. Ghandhi has taught us who has the brains, who has the greater power. Lives are important; everyone's life is to be respected no matter the colour of the skin. Hey cut yourselves and see the colour of your blood - is it blue if you are royalty? Green if you are a Muslim? Yellow if Chinese? Brown if Indian? Oh Man? How idiotic worst then beasts we are.

Let us wait for the right time for it is the people who will know - there are still white ones amongst the flock of black sheep in the BN camp. Just as there are the black ones amongst the PAS camp. Amongst the DAP camp. Amongst the PR etc. If there is light, there is darkness.

There are wonderful Malays and there are wonderful Chinese and Indians etc. But right now, it is the ones who are black that are still baa-ing around in the 4th floor so the good ones must remember, why are you a politician? To fleece the people? To sell them out? To fatten yourselves? There is a religious saying in a holy book, they that fatten themselves have done it for their slaughter!

We wait for Allah's timing. It is His call.

R Shan - Talking is always easier than doing. I see you suffer from it as well since you talk of action in generalities rather than recommend specifics. Can you advise us what we can do?

BTW, RPK is under ISA mostly for "swearing at the ocean". But I must admit his "swearing" is pretty powerful compared to the rest of us.
