Change Does Not Mean Reform PDF Print

The recent MCA General Assembly has presented a plate of hot "water spinach" (The surnames of newly-elected party President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek pronounced as "Weng Cai" in Chinese, which is similar to "Yong Cai" that means water spinach).

"Water spinach" is one of the favourite dishes among local people. The problem is, this plate of "water spinach" from MCA is too salty and spicy.

The objective for MCA central delegates to order the dish is very obvious, that is: reform!

However, the result may be different from their subjective views. Yes, the party's top leadership has changed. But change does not mean reform.

"They fight against each other before the elections and they spoke insincerely after the elections."

Reform is a long way. The fact is, Ong and Chua do not match at all. It would not be easy for them to carry out reform for the party.

Both Ong and Chua tried to play down the conflict between them after the party elections. Ong said it depends on the cook to make the "water spinach" taste better while Chua said the dish will be good if no one add too much of belacan (shrimp paste) into it.

However, a wording game just cannot conceal the fact. The pair of an "outspoken" president and a deputy who is "bold enough to do something and accept responsibility for it" are just like two people from different planets working together. We are concerned about whether they can cooperate in good faith in the future. But I am afraid that many may see it the negative way.

MCA central delegates are really brave this time. They have conveyed a strong message that they want reform. But the election results have highlighted the factional disputes in MCA.

The loss of Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan means the end of Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting's era. At the same time, it also indicates the rise of Ong and Chua.

It is worth of observation that Ong and Chua have their respective supporters and power. They fight against each other before the elections and they spoke insincerely after the elections. Can a great man brook a rival?

The election results also show that some old forces still play an influential role with their crucial votes. This third force in the party should not be ignored.

Today's MCA has come to a new "three kingdoms" or even a "four kingdoms" era. The change is huge and the challenge this time is how to work together rather than how to reform.

In short, skills and wisdoms are required to turn this too salty and spicy "water spinach" tasty. (By LIM MUN FAH/ Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/ Sin Chew Daily)

I think the headline - change does not equal reform applies most aptly to UMNO.

Think positively for a start !
So will MCA be rebranded as a "Multi-racial Citizen Association" ?

Always continue to pray for " RELEASE RPK, and all ISA detainees. ABOLISH ISA NOW! "

The MCA erection is over...Big talks are not needed anymore. Over the next few years, you will see these dogs as usual...lie low, sleep and curl under the sarongs of his UmNOputra masters...and continue to fool the Rakyat by pretending to fight 'this and that'. If the new MCA leaders mean business, tell BN to abolish ISA...but you will see them, particularly OKT/ChuaToilet keeping silent like 'castrated puppies! '

Dissolve MCA and no more racist party please. Save Malaysia!

Chua Jui Meng will make a better President, but the MCA delegates didn't choose him, instead they choose a man who is not able to give direct answers, he will most likely bring you along the park with his 4 words after 4 words to how off his good command of chinese literature. i still remember back then when Lingliong sik and lim ah lek split MCA into 2 over the purchase of Nanyang,Ling wants it badly while Lim Ah Lek opposed strongly, and thus the President VS Deputy president the result was 50/50 but in the end it was Chua Jui Meng who just came back from oversea also opposed the deal which then MCA held AGM to decide. Chua Jui Meng stand up against the President then based on his principal and he didn't let the pressure over him, but with him lost, there's really NO GOOD MAN LEFT IN MCA.
