Day 4 RPK Sedition Trial.

I arrived at the gates of the court at 8.00 and supporters in the now-familiar red, orange and black t-shirts were already there. Had to go back to the LRT station for my friend, however, who was caught in traffic. He was driving to the station and didn't know the way to the court. So we were to meet at the station. We finally got there by 8.20 and thankfully, were still able to secure seats in that small and crowded courtroom.

There was something in the air that…morning, Fernando. People smiled and spoke with strangers and gave way to one another in the cramped courtroom which barely seats 40--uncomfortably--at any one time. There was a queue to get in and people got their chance as others left. I'd say there were about 80 of us all in, taking into consideration the comings and goings.

016

Pathetic, I know, but this is the only shot of Raja Petra that I managed to grab. I'm so ashamed. But my day was made later inside the courtroom when I actually got to shake the hand of the man himself! Right before that, seated no more than 10 feet behind him, I was thinking that if he'd farted, I'd have smelt it. Nurul Izzah Anwar came into the courtroom and spent some 30 minutes inside. Her parents did the same the day before, didn't they? She sat with the family in the front row right behind RPK and spoke briefly with him during a break in the proceedings. I didn't muster enough guts to go shake her hand. Sigh. Ronnie Liu was also there. Again. The indefatigable Ronnie Liu. Isn't he always at where it matters? Bless him.

017Just before noon, after the court was adjourned to Monday, supporters thronged the driveway where RPK would be driven back to wherever it is that they keep him for the nights when he's in town instead of Kamunting. It seems that he'd be sent for a medical examination on Friday and that is why there's no hearing then.

018This was all we could (not) see of RPK as he was whisked away in a very heavily-tinted, unmarked van.

019Mrs RPK, Marina Lee, as she left the courthouse, was applauded...

020...hugged...and presented with a bouquet of flowers.

011Even the members of the defence team were cheered by the crowd in appreciation of a great morning's work. You should have seen how Gobind Singh Deo (far right), the Puchong Panther -- as christened by Bernard Khoo: http://zorro-zorro-unmasked.blogspot.com/2008/10/be-careful-bernard.html -- pounced on the witness of the day, Gan Tack Guan, assistant director of the Interpol National Centre Bureau at police headquarters Bukit Aman (he is? -- could've fooled me). Someone remarked that Gobind was only on first gear. Now, I'm really impressed.

021Marina, with their youngest daughter to her left, and well-wishers. Mrs K you've got a lovely daughter.

Thank you, p-loon, for giving us a first-hand account of an important event of an important cause -- a cause that must be supported every step of the way.

It's people like you who will make this cause matter -- with the use of your skills and talent to make people aware of what's going on.

Welcome to the world of cyberscribes. People like you write the history of our times. You provide the alternative narratives that counterbalance those of the Establishment. Your accounts are as valuable -- perhaps more so because they are untainted by ulterior or self-serving motives.

All power to you! May you bring more and more insights and truth to other Malaysians -- indeed, to the whole world.

Your fellow Malaysian,
Kee Thuan Chye

P-LOON, Bless you and thank you for the coverage which is much appreciated. Good job. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend and rely on these coverage for updates.

Please don't 'beat' yourself up for being unable to shake hands. There'll be a time if it was not done that day. It's all about timing, my friend.
