KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- Former MCA Vice president Datuk Chua Jui Meng who is vying for the MCA president's post in the party's polls next month, in revealing his election manifesto today, among others called upon the Barisan Nasional (BN) to maintain only the poverty eradication aspect of the New Economic Policy (NEP).
He said the reason for this was that after 38 years since the NEP was introduced, the Malay middle class was now large and securely established.
"The need for the NEP therefore no longer exists, and the Constitutional rights of all Malaysians should be restored," he said during his manifesto launch here today.
He also wanted the National Economic Consultative Council (NECC-3) to be established next year to tackle economic challenges.
Other matters he would fight for he said were upholding freedom of religion, restoring independence of the judiciary and equal access to educational opportunities.

Yes, like Anwar we understand he was incapable of verbalising those views then.
So, it's still better late than never.
On this basis I hope he get elected but let him not forget these views if he wins!
