SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Government has never stopped Tenaga Nasional Berhad from proceeding with the central area reinforcement project in Kampung Sungai Terentang in Rawang.
Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the state government was only facilitating the project to make sure people there were not adversely affected by it. Abdul Khalid was commenting on the statement by Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor that the power disruption in the Klang Valley and almost the entire southern region of the peninsula in 2005 could recur at any time if the Selangor Government was still undecided. The 275kV transmission line project was supposed to start last month but had been delayed because of objections from Kampung Sungai Terentang residents. Abdul Khalid said the state government was aware its role was to find the most practical way to proceed, taking into consideration the welfare of the residents. He said among the suggestions was to have the cables installed underground as this would not involve land acquisition, and the villagers could continue to live in the area. - Bernama.
