Basically, Helen Ang's argument is for a Civil Society that all people of whatever race, religion, age, creed, sex can live in harmoniously and be confident of being treated fairly and justly.
She further argues for not only lip service, but the actual implementation of a Civil Society without bigotry and racism. This is an Utopia that I want to live in and one which we should all strive for.
For Civil Society to be sustainable, checks & balances need to be in place so that Draconian and undemocratic legislation like the ISA can never take root here, to be used by DESPOTS like Si-Botak All-Blur, NAJIS, & Bodohwi, and Mad Hatter, to OPPRESS PATRIOTS like Raja Petra Kamarudin, or ordinary citizens as well.
