(NST) - Armed Forces chief Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal has asked the government to take stern action against any quarters who stir up racial sentiments in the country.

He described it as a serious matter and could jeopardise the country’s peace and harmony.

“One should not stir up racial sentiments as it has a wide impact on the peace and stability in the country,” he said after receiving 3,000 Hari Raya goodies packages on behalf of the Armed Forces from Wanita Umno head Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz at the Putra World Trade Centre.

Maybe Ahmad Ismail thought he had the backing of our Armed Forces when he made that racial statement. There is certainly a retraction on the way...his cojones !!!

You are absolutely right, Tan sri. So now there had been already police reports on Ahmad Ismail for that racial remark at Permatang Pauh, do you think the police responsibility to call Ahmad and invoke Sedition Act or ISA on him?

I think every rakyat should now let the events unfold, gently and peacefully. DSAI and the PR are on their way to Putrajaya.

I urge all Rakyat to pray for our beloved Country. DSAI and PR will take over the mantle of government on this auspicious day, Malaysia DAY.

May the almight God bless us and guide us. We will prevail.

Bodohwi should take heed of the Armed Forces Chief. When he has spoken, the next step would be Military rule.

Why aren't the police at Ahmad Ismail's house to serve a summon, check if he's got anything, documents, printer, fax, etc in his house or office as they were a force to be reckoned for efficiency when they did YM RPK?

YB.Tan Sri, can you might as well instruct the police force to take action against Datuk Ahmad Ismail for starting the ball rolling against our good fellow Malaysians?

ehm....where is the ISA they like to use, where is the police for level 1 response. Why all of a sudden Army chief is talking, even though what he said is 100% correct for people with mad cow disease?

That statement by the Armed Forces Chief is reassuring, but who exactly is he referring to that is “stirring up racial sentiments in the country”?? Is he on the side of that ******* Ahmad and is thus making that statement for Malaysian Chinese??
Is there any clarification on his statement before we all go “Yes, yes, yes, way to go Tan Sri” when he was in effect warning our Malaysian Chinese!

The Malaysian Arm Forces have earned accolades and kudos from around the world for its professionalism and is a source of pride to Malaysians. From the Congo to Lebanon to Irian Barat, they have been lauded for their humanitarianism. Wherever and whichever part of the world’s hotspots that they have soldiered, under the flag of the United Nations, they did so with distinction and heroism.
It therefore must have been extremely heart wrenching for Armed Forces chief Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal to make the statement he did, calling upon the government to take stern action against any quarters who stir up racial sentiments in the country.
The role of the Malaysian Forces has always been to defend the nation from external threats. They are professional, neutral, and divorced from politics.
Let this be a clear and ample warning to all maverick politicians who think there is no limit to lawlessness. Taken objectively, his statement clearly takes NO sides; it’s just a reminder to ALL parties not to take anything for granted. His loyalty is to the DYMM Agong, the Supreme Commander.

Since when has the army been running this country? This is an extremely worrying development and should be jumped on by the PM This is the sort of situation that Malaysians have let slip through their fingers in the past and it deserves instant and complete outrage by ALL Malaysians

I agree with lamakawan that tan sri Abdul Aziz help to encourage the police to call Ahmad Isamail into the local station lockup. things should then be in order.

TSAAZ,

I thought Armed Forces are not suppose to involve with internal affairs let alone politics. There are suppose to repel external forces and/or enemy not internal. A chief of Armed Forces in a developed country will not give such comment. But then again Malaysia is not a developed country.
