Perak To Approve Land For 18 Islamic Religious Schools PDF Print

IPOH, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Perak government will approve land to be given to 18 private Islamic religious schools like the allocation handed over to nine Chinese independent schools, recently.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said the religious schools comprising nine primary and nine secondary schools had applied for 200ha of land to open up a plantation.

"They have set up a cooperative for the purpose. We have approved the application in principle," he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here today.

Mohammad Nizar was commenting on a call from Perak Umno Youth to the state government to approve land for Islamic religious schools and Tamil schools as it had approved 1,000ha of land to nine Chinese independent schools.

He said the state government was also considering applications for over 1,00ha of land from various Islamic educational institutions like the Al-Quran memorisation institutes and pondok religious schools.

Mohammad Nizar said the state government had also approved an initial allocation of RM1.3 million to the 18 religious schools which were in deplorable state.

He said the state government would spend RM3.1 million a year by increasing the monthly allowance of 3,120 fardu ain (obligatory practice) teachers from RM500 to RM575 and the monthly allowance of Islamic kindergarten teachers from RM450 to RM575, both since three months ago.

On the Chinese independent schools, he said they would be forming a non-profit company to look after their operations which run into RM10 million a year.

"This is the way we can help them in the long run. They can plant oil palm for quick return as they can reap the harvest in only two and half years. A yearly financial aid of RM30,000 from the state government is not enough," he said.

Meanwhile, Perak Education, Local Government, Housing and Public Transport Committee chairman Nga Kor Ming said the Chinese independent schools had never received any financial aid from the federal government.

He said the schools had been having deficit budget yearly and had to deploy students to collect donations during school holidays.

Nazir, I salute you for a fair gomen.

You have set a good example for a modern Malaysia irregardless of race and religion. Please also do the same for Indian society.

Just a total shame for ball-less MCA, Gerakan & MIC.

Is UMNO going to hold another demonstration? They failed to take over Perak on 31st Ogos anyway.

What the hell BN, the rakyat really do not need your service anymore, highly corrupted, sinful, cronies gang should be sent to hell.

Ask UMNO if they want any more land for such good uses. Give them all the land that they want and take away that reason to say that Perak government is not looking after the Malays or Muslims.

It all depends on WHO runs them, wisdomguy !!

If it was UMNO or Biro Tata Negara, then most certainly, yes, they will churn out FAILED RACIST BIGOTS who blame their failure on everyone else but themselves !

But, when run by PAS, and Tok Guru, it can only mean tolerant and scholastic graduates who will make ALL KAUM KAUM in Malaysia proud !!

They said Islamic religious schools breed extremist?
Do we really need that many religious schools???

A huge big chunk of Kelantanese are from religious school. There's plenty of religious school in Kelantan. Hmm...so far we haven't experience any 'terrorist bombing, attacks etc..
These sort of statement are prejudiced and ignorant. Islamic religious school nowadays are not like before. The student learn the same thing as state school just a bigger emphasize on Islamic subjects. If we dont object to Chinese and Indian school and we salute and support actions taken to improve the standard of education of the Chinese and Indians, why shouldnt Chinese and Indians support Islamic school too???
I salute Perak state govt, cuz I know such move is not solely decided by MB Nizar but must be supported by the Chinese MP's of Perak.
MAy we have a better United Malaysia where we move forward as Malaysians and not as a single race.

I believe such gift of land should come with restrictions and conditions.

No more land scam. Such land given for public use should not have commercial value.

The schools cannot sell the land if it closes but must return it to the state.
