Listen to the peoples’ merdeka message

It is customary for our leaders to give their merdeka message to the people every year.

This year that marks the  51st.annivesary of our independence there seems to be a slight difference where the people instead, have in their own way, given their merdeka message to the leaders on two separate occasions, on March 8 and August 26.On both these occasions the message was the same.

On March 8 the people of all races sent a strong message to the Barisan Nasional(BN) government that they need change in the form of drastic reforms in the administration of the nation. The government promised to bring those reforms but the pace was too slow for their liking. Unfortunately instead of concentrating fully on realizing those reforms it was more preoccupied with internal party squabbles.

Five months later the rakyat in no uncertain terms have again cried out for those reforms that are badly needed, especially at a time of economic uncertainties, that have put tremendous strains on their budgets. Their plea came in the form of the just concluded Permatang Pauh by-election when the voters on behalf of the 27 million Malaysians expressed their displeasure once again by voting for the opposition. The resounding victory they gave the opposition is an indicator that the people are serious in their demands for change.

"That American dream has not only come true but soon the son of a slave may soon become the president of the most powerful nation on earth."

While the above statement is not exactly correct (B.Obama's father was no slave), all Malaysian must and do have a dream as powerful. If a 1st generation black American can be a president of a once most racist and racialist country, there is absolutely no reason why any Malaysian cannot be its prime minister one day.

The Malaysian dream in 2004 was when Bodohwi took over as PM and we, the RAKYAT, thought that he is an honest fellow, and wanted to signal the END of the Maha-Shithead despotic era, by giving Bodohwi a resounding victory to indicate to Maha-Shithead & cronies that they are not welcome any more, and we have chosen Bodohwi to administer the country.

Who knows Bodohwi shattered his own Malaysian dream and frittered away his chances of continuing in office, by his MOST DISAPPOINTING LACK OF PERFORMANCE and NON_FULFILLMENT of his 2004 election manifesto !!

Now, our Malaysian Dream is for DSAI & PAKATAN RAKYAT, to return the power to the RAKYAT, and for a CIVIL Malaysian SOCIETY to flourish like never before ! With Equality, Justice, and Civil Rights for ALL MALAYSIANS irregardless of race !!

WRONG! The Malaysian Dream was IN 1981 when Mahathir a/l Mohamed Iskandar Kutty became PM. BUT unfortunately Mahathir a/l Mohamed misrepresented himself as Malay, misled the entire nation into believing that he is Malay, made Malaysia most corrupt, destroyed the original UMNO, chased away ALL of UMNO's founding fathers (Tunku, Hussein Onn etc), destroyed, destroyed and destroyed. The only thing he built were some tall structures but the nation was hollow and it has been a nightmare ever since - NOT a dream.

let's stop dreaming and try to work it into a reality! do whatever you can in whatever way to make that happen. to begin with, sign the petition for the judiciary independence, spread this to as many malaysians possible, get them to sign too. if you have time, no matter how little, express your view, make it known to the world that you do no longer have the trust in the current regime, that this nation needs change... the longer you let the corrupt leaders in power, the harder it is to reverse the effect...umm.adzka.com

It is not just reform of the institutions and organisations that are needed but also reform of one's own thinking and values. Sharpen the ability to listen to others as well as to one's own conscience.

The govt is just a net sum of society.
