My merdeka wish is for civility to infuse, enlighten and become the political culture of Malaysia.

Going by what the nation saw and heard in the recent by-election, shame and disgust filled me and thoughts of merdeka could not have been further from my heart and mind. A free nation cannot have its top politicians and national leaders behave this way.

This low-class, low-down, x-rated campaign does not articulate merdeka. It does not represent Malay culture and religion. It is not Malaysian. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

"Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apedal is currently the minister of National Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage as of March 2008.
He was born in Semporna, Sabah in October 20, 1957. He is married to Datin Seri Shuryani binti Shuaib and has 6 children.
He is a member of UMNO and the Member of Parliament for Semporna, Sabah, although he is half-witted."
Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shafie_Apdal"

Shafie Apdal was on TV and MSM lambasting DSAI and announcing that ALL Sabah/Sarawak MPs will have to sign a pledge of allegiance. Whoever wrote his entry in wikipedia deserve a special mention, I could not have agreed more.

Dear Indianputra:
8. Sabah and Sarawak MPs tell Shafie Apdal the half-wit what to do with his pledge

On GoHing, you are just too nice to these bigots, my solution is just give them a one-way ticket out of our blessed country, if I really have my way, I’ll just put a bullet at the back of their thick skull.

In order to civilize our politics, first of all you must teach UMNO the way of sopan santun.

To civilize the PM is to ask him to learn how to step down, DPM also the same and surrender to police station over his wrong doing.

KJ wise, ask him to report to ACA.

I believe these gang has been now overcast by sodomy after shock effect or only know DNA theory.

However, who cares about UMNO?

Well if PR comes to power, then I suggest the new PM perform some brain storming to revamp the old timers in BN to behave in a civilized manner;perhaps using fork & spoon when eating instead of barehands;more humane approach to the public;instead of profnity in the Parliament! smilies/grin.gif

I remember vividly that when w were small, we used to sing our Negara Ku with lots of pride. But today somewhat and for whatever reasons, we are not looking forward to this celebration. Personally that is a lot to do with our utter frustrations with our government, the ways they treat the raayat.

They have allowed many of the BN "leaders??" to use racial segregation to obtain mileage which is disastrous for the long term. This has lots of negative impacts to the raayat and finally on the nation.

BN was then too powerful to be touched by ordinary people until recently where the waves of anger and dismay resulted in total protest from the raayat.

But the situations have taken a serious turn and it is practically impossible for BN to bring back its past reputation after its continuous arrogance by some "leaders" in BN.

The coming August 31 can draw very little excitement to all people, unless the PR government and Anwar wants to make it big.

What Merdeka? Never flew the flag and never celebrated. Give me a real reason to. Perhaps when Anwar and PR takes over. That's real Merdeka!

Civil politics is only possible when all parties debate on national and local issues, and international issues (foreign policy) instead of personal issues and character assassination.

Also, civil politics cannot exist in a vacuum, and needs a CIVIL SOCIRETY within a TRUE DEMOCRACY to support it to work !!

Now that the RAKYAT has been awakened and enlightened, the self-serving Barisan NAJIS politicians WHO HAVE NO INTEREST IN SERVING THE RAKYAT, and are in politics only for SELF-ENRICHMENT, are in their DEATH THROES as there is NO WAY A LEOPARD CAN EVER CHANGE THEIR SPOTS !!

Only a desperado Govt. totally devoid of human values would have campaigned the way Barisan NAJIS campaigned in Permatang Pauh !!

DSAI stuck to the national issues and local issues and he WON BIG !! DSAI is RELEVANT ! PAKATAN RAKYAT is RELEVANT !

UMNO & Barisan NAJIS on the other hand, is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT, COMPLETELY OUTDATED, ABSOLUTELY CORRUPT, & VERY VERY DESPERATE !!

LET US MAKE IT HAPPEN ON the 16th SEPT 2008 ! VOTE IN PAKATAN RAKYAT !!

good thoughts, good wishes...we could start here in MT reborn...but there is a lot of anger still out there; I feel it inside myself too...any topic of change usually provokes the response "they must change first'...they the bad ppl...I fully agree...but we must also change whether they do or not...chances are they won't...so we must fight, we must struggle but we can do it in a civil society way...

Just goes to show, yet again, this govt. is not fit to govern. And yet they dare take the moral high ground and preach to the rakyat. They are not arguing their cause because they have none other than enriching themselves and their cronies at the expense of the people. Hence their resorting to underhand and uncivilised tactics. On the other hand, the Opposition led by Anwar is fighting for a legitimate cause on behalf of the people of Malaysia. Therein lies the difference between the two parties. smilies/grin.gif
