Puteri Umno Cries Foul Over Fondled Buttocks |

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- Puteri Umno has claimed that several men wearing Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) T-shirts and carrying the party's flags fondled their buttocks as they gathered here during the nomination for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election Saturday.
When the women turned on the men in anger, they spat at them, said Puteri Umno chief Datuk Noraini Ahmad. She said they reported the matter to the police who deployed Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel to ease the situation.
Noraini expressed disappointment over the incident, which happened at about 10 am and almost sparked off a quarrel among supporters of both the Barisan Nasional (BN) and PKR.
"The by-election has just gotten off the ground and there is already such violent behaviour," she said, adding that the PKR men were no gentlemen at all.
Meanwhile, Noraini said Puteri Umno would work with Wanita Umno to conduct a house-to-house campaign to garner votes for a BN victory.
"A total of 1,500 Puteri Umno members from around the country will be mobilised during the 10-day campaign and we will go all-out," she said.
The by-election on Aug 26 will be a three-corner fight among Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah of the BN, PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia (Akim) president Hanafi Mamat.
It has been necessitated by the resignation of PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the member of parliament for Permatang Pauh on July 31 to pave the way for Anwar, her husband, to contest the by-election and become an MP.
